COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Ladies cut a 15-point deficit with 1:32 left down to three in the waning seconds, but the Tigers split from the charity stripe to ice the game as Centenary (8-18) fell to Colorado College (10-16) 62-58 in the first quarterfinal game of the 2018 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament.

Trailing 60-45 with 1:32 left in the game, a 13-1 run pulled Centenary within three. Junior Savanah Doty hit back-to-back triples before freshman Darelzray Bellard made a pair from the line to cut the deficit to seven with 32 seconds left. Colorado College split from the line, but Doty hit another triple. After Colorado College missed a pair from the line, Bellard made a pair from the charity stripe to bring the Ladies within a possession with seven seconds left.

However, the Tigers iced the game when Jordan Meltzer split from the line with five seconds remaining.

Doty finished the game with 12 points on 4-for-11 shooting from behind the arc, hitting all three shots taken in the fourth quarter. Junior Jasmine Morris added 13 points, hitting all attempts from the charity stripe. Freshman Haylee Washington added 10 boards.

While the Tigers and Ladies were near equal in most categories, Colorado College took advantage of 43.3 percent (23-for-53) shooting, compared to 26.5 percent (18-for-68) for Centenary.

The Ladies trailed by double-digits in the first half and by seven with 1:36 left in the second quarter, but seven unanswered tied the game into the intermission. Sophomore Deunya Small completed an old-fashioned three-point play before freshman Bre Frierson split from the line. Morris then completed her own layup while being fouled to tie the game.

Colorado College trailed 35-33 halfway through the third quarter, but the Tigers scored 14 unanswered while holding the Ladies without a point for more than six minutes of game time. Nia Duplain tied the game on a fastbreak layup while being fouled. She converted the free throw to put the Tigers in the lead for good. Julia Moore made a layup, Casey Torbet hit a jumper, and McKenzee Gertz hit a three while being fouled. Jade Odom took and made the free throw for Gertz as Colorado College led 45-35 after three quarters.

Duplain started the fourth with a layup to cap the 14-0 run for Colorado College.

Torbet led all scorers with 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting, while Underbrink came off the bench for 14 points and 12 boards.
