Trio of Ladies Named to All-Conference Squad

COLORADO COLLEGE, Colo. - In a vote by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference coaches and released following the semifinals of the Conference Women's Tournament, junior Jasmine Morris and Savanah Doty, along with freshman Bre Frierson, were named to the All-Conference squad for the 2017-18 season.

Morris made the Third Team, while Doty and Frierson appeared on the Honorable Mention list. It was the third All-Conference selection for Morris, second for Doty, and first for Frierson.

For the season, Morris led the team and finished 11th in the SCAC with 10.9 points per game, leading the conference with 4.1 free throws made per contest. She scored a season-best 18 points in a 78-63 win against Millsaps on December 16, 2017, also finishing with 10 rebounds for her only double-double of the season.

Morris also made Ladies basketball history against Schreiner on January 20, 2018 when she became just the seventh Lady to score 1,000 points. She achieved this milestone in her 68th collegiate game - besting career-points leader Alexis Pettaway by 14 contests - in the first quarter with a driving layup.

For Doty, this marks the second-straight season she has garnered Honorable Mention honors. Leading the conference with 2.4 three-pointers per game, she finished second on the team with 9.8 points per game. Leading among guards in blocks in the SCAC the past two seasons, she sits 80th in the country with 1.8 blocks per game. She ranks third in the country among guards in rejections, and the two players ahead of her both have three inches on Doty.

Earlier this season against Schreiner on January 28, she tied now-Assistant Coach Brianna Edwards for the most blocks by a Centenary player in a single game with seven. It was the 27th-most overall and the second most by a guard in NCAA Division III this season.

Finally, Frierson finished with 7.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while leading the team with a 49.6 field goal percentage in 2017-18. She finished with a pair of double-doubles on the season, including 15 points and 13 rebounds against Austin College (December 30, 2017) and 13 points and 13 boards at Trinity (January 26, 2018).
