Ladies Run Winning Streak to Four, Take Down Colorado College on Senior Night

SHREVEPORT, La. - It is a winning streak 35 years in the making.

The Ladies won its fourth-straight game - all by double digits - for the first time in 35 years, and finished the home Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a winning record (4-3) as Centenary (8-14, 5-6 SCAC) beat Colorado College (7-15, 4-7 SCAC) 67-55 Saturday night, February 3.

Trailing by as much as nine in the first quarter and eight after one, the Ladies rallied to take a halftime lead. Down 20-13, Sophomore Deunya Small made a layup and junior Savanah Doty hit a triple. Small hit a jumper to square the game at 20. Tied later at 28, the Ladies made 3-of-4 from the line and junior Jasmine Morris made a layup as the Ladies took a 33-30 lead into intermission.

Doty finished the game 4-for-8 from three-point range and added a basket for a game best 14 points.

Centenary led 38-34 before 11 unanswered pushed the lead to double digits. Freshman Haylee Washington hit a pair from the line while Morris completed a three-point play. Morris and King made layups before a freshman Bre Frierson inside shot put Centenary up 49-34 with 4:46 left.

Colorado College cut the lead to 51-48 in the fourth, but Centenary scored 14 unanswered to push the lead to double digits for good. Doty sandwiched threes around a King layup, followed by inside shots by Morris and Doty. Frierson capped the spurt with a jumper in the paint.

Morris added 13 points while Frierson came off the bench for 11. King finished with 10 boards.

Nia Duplain paced the Tigers with 12 points.

Centenary will take to the road next Friday, February 9, at Texas Lutheran. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
