Women's Soccer Posts another Shutout; Beats St. Thomas 3-0 to open SCAC Play

Houston, Texas – The Centenary women's soccer team remained undefeated with a 3-0 victory over the St. Thomas Celts in its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Friday afternoon at the Houston Sports Park.

The Ladies (4-0) recorded their third-straight shutout as they have only allowed one goal all season. Centenary has now outscored the opposition, 12-1, and the Ladies have won 20 of their last 23 matches dating back to the beginning of last season and are 10-2 in their last 12 road matches. St. Thomas fell to 0-1 with Friday's loss.

Centenary scored its first goal in the 25th minute as senior midfielder Pamela Fonesca (Houston, Texas) scored her first goal of the season and sixth of her career and was assisted by junior midfielder Itzel Sigaran (Dallas, Texas). The Ladies struck again just over minutes later as freshman defender Jacie Landry (Cecilia, La.) scored her first-career goal with the assist credited to junior Gabby McDonald (Pasadena, Texas).

The Ladies took their 2-0 lead into halftime with an 8-5 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks. Centenary added a late insurance goal in the 85th minute as sophomore midfielder Yosi Bouslog (Friendswood, Texas) scored her first-career goal. Senior goalkeeper Maggie Pitcher (San Antonio, Texas) played all 90 minutes and had five saves and recorded another shutout, her third this season and ninth of her career which ties her for the most career shutouts in the division III era (2012-present).

Centenary finished with a 16-7 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in corner kick. St. Thomas goalkeeper Carmen Lozada played the entire match for the Celts and allowed the three goals and made five saves.
