Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: March 20 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: March 20 Edition

Hey Ladies fans! It’s sophomore Claire Flores here with the week’s Gym Talk.

This week is a going to be a good one because It’s Conference week! That’s right, Saturday, March 23rd, the Ladies are going to be in St. Charles, Missouri for the MIC Conference Championships hosted by Lindenwood gymnastics.

Let me tell you about last week though because it was a good one! The Ladies have been making improvements both on and off the competition floor as we prepare for post season! This past weekend at TWU the Ladies scored their season high of 190.325!

The vault shakers have been killing it! Senior Izzie Plaza scored a career high of 9.675 with a HUGE vault and a STUCK landing! Sophomore Sophie Schmitz also posted a big 9.6 with her beautiful Yurchenko Layout. Sophomore Amy Foret also showed out with a solid 9.55.

Our bar stars were on fire! Their releases were sky high, and their dismounts were too. Senior Roxanne Myers scored a career high of 9.65 with a stunning bar routine. Junior Emma Lavelle was a solid competitor in our bar lineup with a 9.5. The Ladies Anchor Sophomore Sophie Schmitz delivered again with a gorgeous 9.75 bar routine to round out the rotation.

The beam queens were queening, that’s for sure. A lineup with no falls counted scored a 47.850 for the best this season and highest event total of the night.

Sophomore Amy Foret was rock solid as our anchor and scored a 9.725. Junior Emma Lavelle really turned it on for this meet and showed out with a 9.65. Lavelle really knows how to attack a beam routine that’s for sure. And Freshman Brooke Murdock tied her season high of a 9.625. Her gainer back handspring back tuck is certainly a showstopper.

And last but certainly not least, the floor roars! They were certainly putting on a show for the crowd. Freshman Olivia (Willie) Williams gave a great performance with her funky routine and sky-high tumbling. Senior Izzie Plaza had herself a night! She put up a solid routine with her dramatic dance that had the entire crowd in awe, especially with her unique Barani to back full and a half.

Sophomore Sophie Schmitz also set a career high and won the all-around with a 38.175.

Thanks for tuning in to this week’s Gym Talk! Make sure to keep an eye out for next week’s Gym Talk!
