Wedge's Career Night Leads Ladies At West Chester

West Chester, Pa. - The Centenary gymnastics team finished third on Friday night with a score of 188.075 in a tri-meet against the host West Chester University Golden Rams and the William & Mary Tribe inside the Sturzebecker Health Science Center.

Senior Lacey Wedge (Belle Chasse, La.) highlighted the Ladies' performance on Friday as she won on floor with a new career-high 9.85 and finished second on vault with a career-high tying 9.725.

The Golden Rams won the meet with a 194.375 team score, edging the second-place Tribe (194.275). The Ladies were making their first visit to West Chester since the 2016 season and were facing the Golden Rams for the fourth time.

Centenary entered the meet ranked 82nd nationally in the latest Road to Nationals rankings while William & Mary, a division 1 school located in Williamsburg, Va. was ranked 69th, and West Chester, a division II school, checked in at 62nd.

The Ladies finished with their best event score of the meet on floor (47.850) followed by a 47.350 on vault, a 47.175 on bars, and a 45.700 on beam. The Ladies' scores on floor and bars are their highest of the season, as their floor score edges their 47.825 score from the Feb. 26 home finale against Bridgeport and their bars score eclipsed their 46.900 also earned on Feb. 26.

Wedge continued her impressive senior season after earning a 9.80 on floor in the Feb. 26 meet which at the time was a new career high in her final appearance in the Gold Dome. Her career high on floor coming into the season was a 9.575 and she has now scored a 9.60 or higher six times this season and 9.70 or higher four times. She previously scored a 9.725 on vault last month in a tri-meet against the host Air Force Academy Falcons and the UC-Davis Aggies in Colorado.

Sophomore Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas) finished second in the All-Around with a 37.675 as she competed in the AA for the first time in her career. She tied for sixth place on vault with a new career-best 9.65. She finished 10th on bars with a 9.625 and 14th on floor with a 9.525 in her debut in the event.

Sophomore Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) tied for eighth place on vault with a career-high tying 9.625 and junior Mylia Vidtor (The Colony, Texas) earned a career-high 9.575 on beam to place 12th.

The Ladies complete the weekend with a dual meet at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY at 1 p.m. (Noon Central).
