Hey Ladies Fans! 5th year Kendall Huff back again with this week’s Gym Talk!
Monday practice started off strong as we analyzed our performance from the weekend and began working on improving both the mental and physical aspects of our routines. We had a regular practice week as the team did not travel to St. Charles, Missouri until Saturday for a tri-meet on Sunday. We then returned home late Sunday so it was a quick and fast turn-around this past weekend!
We had a fantastic meet against the Lindenwood Lions and the Simpson College Storm! Everyone is starting to settle in and get more comfortable performing and it really showed this weekend as we notched our season high of 187.95!
As it was a tri-meet, the Ladies started off on beam where senior Rylie Molina led us off strong with an amazing beam routine! Junior Mylia Vidtor had a season high and sophomore Amy Foret ended the rotation with a season high and our team high on beam with a 9.7! Floor was up next and everyone did great! Sophomore Emily McClung led off the event with a fun routine. Both freshmen Brooke Murdock and Olivia Williams had season highs, and 5th year Lacey Wedge ended the rotation, lights out, with a season and career high of a 9.7!
Vault was our best rotation of the season with sophomore Olivia Stratmann and 5th year Kendall Huff (me) scoring season highs! Finally, the bar stars sealed the deal for us with four season highs from Claire Flores, Emma Lavelle, Olivia Williams, and sophomore Sophie Schmitz leading the pack with a score of 9.725! I also want to give a very special shout-out to Willie as she is one tough Lady who pushed through an illness to help the Ladies achieve their season high team score!
Alumni weekend is this coming weekend but a couple of alumni joined us in Lindenwood. Shout-out to Rose Deshler and Madison McCary and their families for the support – it meant so much to us! We sure hope to see everyone at the Gold Dome this weekend for our annual Sylvia meet on Friday at 7:00pm and our 60-year alumni meet on Sunday at 12:30pm!
