Six Ladies Set To Compete At Nationals

West Chester, Pa. – Six Centenary gymnasts will compete as individuals this weekend in the 2024 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships inside Hollinger Field House on the campus of West Chester University.

The Six Ladies who qualified are sophomore Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas), senior Rylie Molina (Moss Bluff, La.), sophomore Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas), senior Lacey Wedge (Belle Chasse, La.), freshman Olivia Williams (Cape Coral, Fla.), and senior Izzie Plaza (San Antonio, Texas).

The six Ladies will compete in session two on Friday evening at 7 p.m. eastern time. Eight Ladies competed as individuals in last season's championships and two of those eight Ladies – Foret and Schmitz are back for a second time in a row. Molina, Plaza, Wedge, and Williams will all make their debuts at nationals.

The Ladies are led by second-year head coach Meg Crowley and she is assisted by Joseph Hodges, also in his second season. Crowley is a former Centenary gymnast (2009-13) who helped lead the Ladies to a third-place finish at the 2013 USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals, also finishing third on floor and served as team co-captain her senior year. Hodges was named the division III Region Nine Assistant Coach of the Year by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association last week.

Individuals who qualified for the national championships were also determined by their National Qualifying Score (NQS) in respective events. Foret and Molina qualified on beam, Schmitz qualified on bars and vault, Wedge on floor and vault, Plaza on vault, and Williams on floor. For the individual competitors, the top five individual scores from each session will advance to the individual finals on Sunday, April 14 at 1 p.m.

The following numbers in parentheses are each Centenary gymnasts' NQS score in the event they will compete in this weekend:

Foret (BEAM - 9.71)

Molina (BEAM – 9.68)

Plaza (FLOOR – 9.435 & VAULT – 9.565)

Schmitz (BARS – 9.69) & VAULT – 9.575)

Williams (FLOOR – 9.62)

Wedge (FLOOR – 9.71 & Vault – 9.65)

Session Two individuals include: Nova Staruk (Bridgeport) and Kieran Ross (Bridgeport) on the vault and floor exercise, Emily Hernandez (Bridgeport) on the vault and balance beam, Allyah Reed-Hammon (Fisk) on the vault, Plaza and Wedge on the vault and floor. Schmitz will be on vault and bars, Samantha Nokes (Bridgeport) on the bars, Hannah Barry (Bridgeport) on the beam, and Olivia Imbarlina (Bridgeport) on the bars and beam.

Catherine Aucoin (Bridgeport) will be on the bars and floor, Molly McAleavey (Bridgeport) on the beam and Landyn Williams (Talladega) on the vault. Kiora Peart-Williams (Talladega) and Jamilia Duffus (Talladega) will compete on the uneven bars. Also, in Session Two, Alondra Maldonado (Talladega) will compete on the balance beam and the floor, while Foret and Molina will be on the beam. Olivia Williams and Jada Reece (Fisk) will be on the floor while, Ciniah Rosby (Fisk) will be on the beam.

The Ladies finished fifth in the annual Midwest Independent Conference Championships hosted by Lindenwood University last month in St. Charles, Mo. with a 188.550 score. The Ladies posted a 47.750 on floor for their best event score of the meet followed by a 47.300 on vault, 47.925 on beam, and a 46.475 on bars.

Molina highlighted the meet for the Ladies as she scored a career-high 9.775 on beam to finish 14th, Olivia Williams led the way on floor with a career-high 9.725 to place 21st and Foret and Schmitz had the Ladies' top finish on vault as they tied for 25th place at 9.525.

Schmitz, who finished 23rd on beam with a career-high 9.60 and 27th on floor with a 9.40, finished fifth in the All-Around (37.825). Foret finished 20th on beam with a 9.70 and Plaza finished 27th on vault with a 9.50.
