Ladies Set For Tri-Meet On Friday In Pennsylvania

West Chester, Pa. - The Centenary gymnastics team is set to face the host West Chester University Golden Rams and the William & Mary Tribe in a tri-meet on Friday evening at 7 p.m. inside the Sturzebecker Health Science Center.

The Ladies will make their first visit to West Chester since the 2016 season and will face the Golden Rams for the fourth time. Centenary enters the meet ranked 82nd nationally in the latest Road to Nationals rankings while William & Mary, a division 1 school located in Williamsburg, Va. is ranked 69th, and West Chester, a division II school, checks in at 62nd.

The Ladies are back in action for the first time since they recorded a 188.050 to finish second to the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in a non-conference dual meet on Feb. 26 as the Ladies celebrated Senior Night inside the Gold Dome. Centenary honored its 2024 senior class following that meet - Kendall Huff (Riviera, Texas), Rylie Molina (Moss Bluff, La.), Roxanne Myers (Prairieville, La.), Isabel Plaza (San Antonio, Texas), and Lacey Wedge (Belle Chasse, La.). Wedge highlighted the meet as she earned a new career-high 9.80 on floor in her final appearance in the Gold Dome.

The Ladies recorded their highest scores of the season on both bars (46.900) and floor (47.825). They finished with a 45.850 on beam and a 47.475 in vault. The Purple Knights posted a winning score of 193.025 as they finished with a 48.600 on floor, a 48.225 on vault, an a 48.100 on both bars and beam.

Freshman Olivia Williams (Cape Coral, Fla.) earned a pair of  season and career-high scores as she recorded a 9.675 on floor to tie for fifth place and earned her other career-high on bars (9.375) as she tied for ninth. Sophomore Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) and Huff tied for third place on vault with scores of 9.60 as Foret tied her season high.

Sophomore Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas) tied her season high on bars with a 9.725 to finish second and sophomore Claire Flores (Oklahoma City, Okla.) set a career high on bars (9.55) to finish fifth.

Freshman Brooke Murdock (Garland, Texas) tied for fourth on beam with a career-high 9.625 and junior Mylia Vidtor (The Colony, Texas) finished sixth on beam with a career-high 9.525. Flores also set a new career high on floor (9.50) to finish ninth. Plaza finished 10th on floor with a 9.45 and Murdock placed 11th (9.40).

Junior Emma Lavelle (Mandeville, La.) was the Ladies' top finisher on beam with a season-high 9.675 in a tri-meet against the host Air Force Academy Falcons and the UC-Davis Aggies on Feb. 16 in Colorado. Huff had her season-best score on vault (9.725) in her final appearance at home on Feb. 11 and Wedge recorded a season-high 9.72 on vault on Feb. 16 in Colorado.

Centenary's season-high team score is 189.150 which is recorded in a pair of meets on Feb. 9 and 11 – first a tri-meet against Alaska Anchorage and Talladega College and then a quad-meet against Alaska Anchorage, Greenville University, and Talladega.
