Gents Fall At Hendrix In Season Opener

Conway, Ark. – The Centenary lacrosse team fell 22-3 to the Hendrix College Warriors on Wednesday evening in its season opener at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.

The Gents (0-1) and Warriors (1-0) endured multiple long weather delays before completing the game. Hendrix jumped out to a 7-1 lead after one quarter of play and then outscored the Gents 9-0 in the second period for a commanding 16-1 lead at the half.

The second half featured less scoring as the Warriors finished ahead 2-1 in the third quarter and 4-1 in the final period to secure the win. The Warriors took 69 total shots to the Gents' 23 and had 14 ground balls while the Gents finished with seven.

Hendrix won 22 of 29 face-offs and were 17 of 19 on clears while the Gents were 14-16. Centenary turned the ball over 17 times and Hendrix gave it away 15 times.

Sophomore GK Alex Nicks-Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) and sophomore GK Jason Turner (Bossier City, La.) each saw time in goal for the Gents as Nicks-Davis made 13 saves and allowed 16 goals in his half and Turner made eight and allowed six goals in his 30 minutes. Ian Domeika went the distance for the Warriors and recorded 12 saves.

Junior M/A Kyle Comi (Allen, Texas), sophomore A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas), and senior A/MF Mark Temple (Houston, Texas) each scored a goal for the Gents and Maximus LaMendola scored a game-high six goals to lead the Warriors.

The Gents will face the Cornell College Rams on Saturday in its home opener in a non-conference contest set for 11 a.m. at Mayo Field.
