Gents Fall 9-2 At Anderson On Saturday

Anderson, Ind. - The Centenary lacrosse team fell 9-2 on Saturday afternoon to the Anderson University Ravens in a non-conference contest at Macholtz Stadium.

The Gents (1-7) were back in action for the first time since March 18, a 14-12 loss to Earlham in their final home game of the season. The Ravens improved to 4-3 with Saturday's win.

Anderson scored two goals in the first quarter and two more in the second. The Gents scored their two goals in the second to trail 4-2 at halftime. The Ravens scored twice more in the third and three times in the final period to seal the win.

Sophomore A Braxton Parchman (Shreveport, La.) scored the Gents' first goal at the 13:05 mark of the second period and senior John Mark Waniewski (Bossier City, La.) scored with 3:14 left until the half.

Cole Whatley and Jacob Glowner each scored three goals for the Ravens, Kenny Bentley had two, and Robert Okougbo had one. Whatley added a pair of assists, and the Ravens got one each from Okougbo, Johnathan Havener, and Riley Allstatt.

The Ravens finished with 38 shots to 32 for the Gents. Anderson totaled 44 ground balls and Centenary finished with 38. The Ravens went 21-33 on clears and the Gents were 17-29. Anderson won 9-14 face off opportunities and Centenary went 5-14. Each team turned the ball over 33 times.

Sophomore GK Alex Nicks-Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) played all 60 minutes and made 12 saves. Timothy Jackson went the distance for Anderson and made 13 saves. Senior D Ethan Little (Tyler, Texas) had a team-high seven ground balls, sophomore A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas) finished with four and six Gents had three. Little and Spivey each had three caused turnovers. Mason Bratcher led the Ravens in CT's with four and Bentley led in GB's with nine.

Centenary completes the weekend on Sunday Mount. St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio in an HCLC contest at 4 p.m.
