Gents Set To Face Anderson On Saturday

Anderson, Ind. - The Centenary lacrosse team returns to action with a non-conference contest versus the Anderson University Ravens on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Macholtz Stadium.

The Gents (1-6) were last in action on Saturday, March 18 when they lost at home to Earlham, 14-12. The Ravens (3-3) defeated Mt. St. Joseph by a score of 21-5 on Wednesday. Centenary had a quick turnaround after scoring a program-record 23 goals on March 17 in a dominant 23-2 victory over the Spalding University Golden Eagles. Centenary edged Anderson 12-11 last season at Macholtz Stadium.

Senior John Mark Waniewski (Bossier City, La.) enters Saturday's play as the team leader in goals (16), one more than sophomore A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas) who has 15 along with five assists for a total of 20 points. Spivey also has 13 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Waniewski has 16 points, three GB's, and two CT's.

Senior M/A Kyle Comi (Allen, Texas) has 12 goals, five assists, 17 points, 13 GB's, and eight CT's. Comi was named the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) Offensive Athlete of the Week on March 21 after a pair of great performances versus Spalding and Earlham. He scored eight goals and tallied three assists with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

In the Gents' 23-2 win over Spalding, Comi scored the Gents' first goal at the 13:45 mark in the first quarter and proceeded to score four more times and added three assists for a memorable Senior Day performance. He then had a hat trick versus Earlham along with two ground balls and two CT's. 

Sophomore A Braxton Parchman (Shreveport, La.) has six goals, four assists, 10 points, five GB's, and four CT's. Senior A/MF Mark Temple (Houston, Texas) has scored eight goals, four assists, 12 points, seven GB's, and five CT's. Freshman A Liam Johns (Shreveport, La.) has scored five goals and tallied a team-high eight assists for a total of 13 points. Freshman MF Dominic Ogier (St. Louis, Mo.) has one goal, three assists, eight GB's, and five CT's.

Sophomore GK Dylan Miller (Shreveport, La.) made his first-career start in the blowout win over Spalding and picked up his first win as he went the distance and made five saves. He has made 15 saves in two games this season. Sophomore GK Alex Nicks-Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) is the team leader in goals with 45 in five games played (three starts).

Centenary completes the weekend on Sunday Mount. St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio in an HCLC contest at 4 p.m.
