Gents Fall 16-3 At Huntingdon On Friday

Montgomery, Ala. - The Centenary lacrosse team fell 16-3 to the Huntingdon College Hawks on Friday night in a non-conference contest at Charles Lee Field at Samford Stadium.

The Gents (0-3) will return to action on Sunday with another non-conference game against the LaGrange College Panthers in LaGrange, Ga. at Noon. Huntingdon (2-2) will face Alma College at home on Wednesday.

Gage Kettlewell gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead just 30 seconds into the game and Huntingdon would score eight more times in the opening quarter for a 9-0 lead and added three more goals in the second period to take a 12-0 halftime lead.

Senior A/MF Mark Temple (Houston, Texas) got the Gents on the board with an unassisted goal at the 6:47 mark of the third quarter and then sophomore A G'Colby Spivey (Dallas, Texas) scored with 22 seconds remaining in the quarter with an assist from freshman A Liam Johns (Shreveport, La.). Junior M/A Kyle Comi (Allen, Texas) scored the final goal for the Gents with 5:17 left in the game.

Sophomore GK Alex Nicks-Davis (Nashville, Tenn.) played all 60 minutes and made nine saves. The Hawks played two goalkeepers with EJ Umphries picked up the win and made four saves and Peter Harmon made one save.

The Hawks finished with a 46-24 advantage in shots and 3-16 in ground balls and won 21-23 face offs. Centenary turned the ball over 20 times and Huntingdon 17 times.

Spivey led the Gents in ground balls with five and senior D Ethan Little (Tyler, Texas) had two. Caden Bacz led the Hawks with five goals and four assists.
