SHREVEPORT, La. - Centenary soccer, with the Gents under second-year head coach Kyle Symczak and the Ladies under first-year head coach Greg Cathell, announced the 2017 slate Monday, July 24.
The Ladies play seven home games and host the annual Southern Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Tournament November 3-5, as well as eight regular season contests. The Gents play 10 games on the Mayo pitch.
Both teams begin the season with a pair of neutral site games on the campus of Millsaps in Jackson, Mississippi. The Ladies take on Huntingdon at 1 p.m., while the Gents battle Belhaven at 3 p.m. on September 1. After both teams take a day off before finishing the season-opening weekend Sept. 3 at Millsaps. Both teams take on the University of the Ozarks in back-to-back games, beginning at noon.
After the trip to Jackson, the Centenary soccer teams return to begin SCAC play in Shreveport the next two weekends. Austin College visits Mayo Field on September 8, while Texas Lutheran visits September 15. Southwestern rounds out the home stand when it visits Centenary September 17. All doubleheaders kicks off with the Ladies, followed by the Gents approximately 30 minutes after.
In the home stand in the middle of September, the Gents welcome East Texas Baptist Saturday night, September 9.
Both teams open up road conference play September 22 at Dallas. After taking on the Crusaders, the Gents continue on to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to take on Colorado College September 24. The Maroon and White close out the month of September with Trinity on September 29.
October begins when Schreiner visits on the first, while the Ladies and Gents step out of conference play when they welcome LeTourneau to Shreveport on Tuesday night, October 3. Both teams hit the road with games at Texas Lutheran (October 6) and at Southwestern (October 8) before the Ladies take on Pelican State-rival Louisiana College October 10. Centenary welcomes Dallas for the final Friday night games October 13.
With the Ladies off, the Gents finish the weekend when they welcome Colorado College October 15.
After a road trip to Trinity (October 20) and Schreiner (October 22), the Gents and Ladies close out home regular season play against Hendrix on Tuesday, October 24.
The teams wrap up the regular season October 28 with a doubleheader at Austin College.
While the Ladies soccer team hosts the 2017 SCAC Women's Soccer Tournament, Dallas hosts the 2017 Men's Soccer Tournament in Irving, Texas.
All weekday home games begin with the Ladies at 5 p.m., with the Gents following shortly after. All Sunday games kickoff with the Ladies at noon. The standalone soccer games see the Gents take on East Texas Baptist at 7 p.m. (September 9) and Colorado College at noon (October 15).
