Soccer Enters Stretch Run of Regular Season

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Centenary soccer teams look to improve their chances for a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament berth this weekend when it travels to the heart of Texas to take on nationally-ranked Trinity and Schreiner.

The Ladies (4-8-1, 3-5-1 SCAC) currently sit fourth in a log jam for the final three spots in the tournament. Centenary will clinch a spot in the Conference Tournament (held in Shreveport this year) if Southwestern loses at Dallas or beats #11 Trinity (13-1, 9-0 SCAC) Friday night at 6 p.m. or Schreiner (8-5-1, 7-1-1 SCAC) Sunday at 1 p.m.

However, Centenary has one of only three goals scored on the Tigers this season. The Ladies are also the only conference squad to have scored against Trinity.

The Gents (2-11-2, 1-9-1) currently sit five points behind Southwestern for the final SCAC Tournament spot. With three games remaining - at Trinity, at Schreiner, at Austin College - the Gents will need two wins and Southwestern to lose out to secure a bid. It will be a tough task this weekend, starting with #2 Trinity (14-1, 10-1 SCAC) on Friday night at 8 p.m. and closing with Schreiner (3-10-2, 1-8-2) Sunday at 3 p.m.
