Shreveport, La. - The Centenary men's soccer team posted its second-straight shutout on Friday as the Gents blanked Austin College, 1-0, at Mayo Field.

The Gents pitched their second-consecutive shutout and improved to 3-2 this season. The new playing surface, installed prior to this season, was officially dedicated prior to the doubleheader with a ribbon cutting and remarks by Centenary president Dr. Chris Holoman. A large crowd was on hand and enjoyed a pregame tailgate party sponsored by the SGA and "Up With People" performed at halftime.

Freshman midfielder Nick Garcia (Carrolton, Texas) scored the lone goal for the Maroon and White on Friday, connecting in the 21st minute of the first half off the assist from Greg Petreas (Denton, Texas). The goal was Garcia's fourth of the season. The Gents have now scored 14 goals in just five games this season. Centenary crushed Hendrix, 7-0, on Tuesday at home. Austin College fell to 3-4-1 with the loss.
