Men's Soccer Posts Third Straight Shutout

Shreveport, La. – The Centenary men's soccer team continued its stellar play with another shutout on Sunday as the Gents blanked the University of Dallas Crusaders, 1-0, at Mayo Field.

The Maroon and White improved to 4-2 on the season and won their third straight match, all shutouts. The Gents defeated Austin College, 1-0, on Friday after crushing Hendrix, 7-0, on Tuesday. All four Centenary victories this season have been shutouts and the Gents have outscored the opposition 15-8 on the season.

The Gents and Crusaders played to a scoreless tie through 45 minutes until sophomore midfielder Wil Escobar (Cypress, Texas) scored the lone goal for the Gents as he found the back of the net in the 64th minute for an unassisted goal, his second of the season.

Centenary held the advantage in shots on Sunday (21-11) and sophomore Sami Borchalli (Lafayette, La.) collected three saves on Sunday in earning his fourth win this season.

The Gents will be back at home for a pair of matches next weekend as they open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Centenary faces Johnson and Wales on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. and then welcomes Colorado College to Mayo Field on Sunday, Oct. 6 at Noon. #CTheOpportunity
