Ladies To Face St. John Fisher University In Home DH On Sunday

Shreveport - The Centenary softball team returns to action on Sunday as the Ladies will play host to the St. John Fisher University Cardinals in a non-conference doubleheader set for Noon and 2 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The Ladies (4-4) and Cardinals (0-0) will meet for the first time in history. St. John Fisher, a fellow division III institution and a member of the Empire 8 Conference, is located in Rochester, NY and is opening its season on Sunday.

Centenary swept a non-conference doubleheader over the Millsaps College Majors back on Feb. 21 at home in its most recent action, winning 5-2 in game one and 5-3 in game two, as the Maroon and White improved to 2-2 at home this season.

The Ladies finished with 10 hits in the 5-3 win, marking the fifth time in eight games this season that they have had double digit hits in a game. Centenary is averaging 8.1 runs per game this season and batting .374 as a team with a .434 OBP and slugging .492.

Senior LF/SS Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) is the Ladies' leading hitter this season (.556) despite missing the two games against the Majors with an injury. Patridge, named the SCAC Softball Hitter- of-the-Week on Feb. 20, made history in the 2023 Warrior Spring Fling hosted by Hendrix College in Conway, Ark. the weekend prior.

In the Ladies' 20-7 five-inning win over Westminster (Mo.), she hit for the cycle as she went 5-5 with eight RBI. Her eight RBI sets a new SCAC mark for RBI in a single game in league history. She blasted a two-run homer in the first, singled to lead off the second, hit a bases-loaded, three-RBI double later in the second inning, a bases-loaded, three-RBI triple in the third, and a double in the fifth. Her five hits finished tied for second most in SCAC history for a single game.

For the weekend in leading Centenary to a 2-2 record, Patridge finished with an impressive .636 batting average with six extra base hits, nine RBI, six runs scored and one walk. She posted a remarkable 1.545 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base percentage. She is 10-18 this season with nine RBI, seven runs scored, four doubles, three triples, a homer, two walks, and a stolen base.

Junior OF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) is off to another strong start as she is hitting .448 (.500 OBP/.621 slugging) with 10 runs scored, two triples, a double, five RBI, and a team-high seven stolen bases. Freshman 2B Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) is hitting an impressive .444 (.467 OBP/.519 slugging) with 12 hits, seven runs scored, five RBI, two doubles, and two stolen bases.

Sophomore C/DH Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) is batting .414 (.469 OBP/.552 slugging) with 12 hits, nine RBI, 12 runs scored, a home run, and a double. Senior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) is hitting .350 (.517 OBP/350 slugging) with a team-best 13 runs scored, a team-high eight walks, seven hits, two RBI, and two stolen bases. Freshman C Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) has a team-high 11 RBI and is hitting .316 with a .364 OBP and slugging .474. The rookie has six hits, three of them doubles, a run scored and a pair of walks.

Sophomore 3B Alyssa Akers (Maurice, La.) is hitting .310 (.333 OBP/.379 slugging) with nine hits, seven RBI, three runs scored, and two doubles. Sophomore 1B Kaitlyn Dickey (Church Point, La.) is batting .313 with seven RBI, five hits, and three runs scored. Sophomore SS Brooke Sandefur (Baton Rouge, La.) has an interestingly even stat line so far of four hits, four runs, four RBI, and four stolen bases.

Junior 1B Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) is hitting .385 with five hits and two RBI and junior SS Mackenzie Clark (Upland, Calif.) is hitting .375 with a .500 OBP and three hits, three runs scored, two walks, and two stolen bases. Freshman RF Sophie Vidrine (Eunice, La.) has a pair of hits, a run scored, and a walk in five games.

Sophomore P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) leads the Ladies' pitching staff in ERA (3.63) and is tied with freshman Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) for the team lead in wins with two. Scarbrock is 2-1 with a team-best three complete games and 11 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched. Crow is 2-0 on the season and freshman Abigail Hodgson (Georgetown, Texas) owns the Ladies' only save.
