Shreveport– The Centenary softball team will complete its regular season this weekend at home as the Ladies face the Southwestern University Pirates in a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series beginning Friday at 7 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The series was originally scheduled to begin on Saturday with a doubleheader set for Noon and 2 p.m. followed by a single game on Sunday at Noon but inclement weather is expected on Saturday, thus the schedule was revised. The Ladies will recognize their two seniors - senior LF/SS Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) and senior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) this weekend. The Ladies (15-21, 10-8 SCAC) lost two of three games last weekend at Schreiner. Despite losing the series, the Ladies have still won eight of their last 10 games overall and finished 6-6 on the road. The Pirates (19-18, 12-6 SCAC) are currently in third place in the SCAC standings, two games ahead of the Ladies.

The 2023 SCAC Softball Championship is set for May 5-7 in San Antonio with Trinity serving as the host. The top six teams in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the event. The Ladies and Pirates have both clinched berths into the event but are playing for seeding this weekend. Southwestern enters Friday's action riding a six-game winning streak.

Centenary's 10 conference wins marks its most since going 12-10 in the 2019 season and 12 is the most conference games that the Maroon and White have won in a single season in the division III era (2012-present). The Ladies can set a D3-era single-season record for conference wins with a series sweep this weekend.

The Ladies enter the weekend ranked third in the conference in both team batting average (.313) and ERA (4.02). They have scored 177 runs (fourth in league), have hit 10 home runs (third in league), have 73 extra-base hits, and stolen 59 bases (third in league). Centenary also boasts a .376 on-base percentage and a .415 slugging % and ranks in the top five in the conference in team fielding % (.958). The Ladies have scored 10+ runs in a game four times and posted 10+ hits 14 times and in nine of their last 10 games.

Sophomore P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) has led the Ladies' pitching staff all season as she ranks seventh in the SCAC in ERA (3.78). She is the conference leader in innings pitched (105.2), sixth in strikeouts (46), and tied for sixth in wins. She is 7-9 with a team-high nine complete games and only walked 16 batters all season in 20 appearances (18 starts).

Freshman P/UT Abigail Hodgson (Georgetown, Texas) is the team leader in ERA (3.05) and ranks sixth in the conference, just ahead of Scarbrock. Hodgson has 13 appearances, 13 starts, a save, and a complete game in 41.1 IP. Hodgson also has had a solid season at the plate as she is hitting .345 (.424 OBP %/.414 slugging %) with 10 hits in 29 at-bats. She has five RBI, two doubles, two runs scored, and two walks. Freshman P Alexis Roach (Pineville, La.) is 4-4 with four complete games and has appeared in 13 games and made 12 starts. She has a 4.65 ERA in 61.2 IP. Freshman Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) has made 14 appearances and three starts and is 3-2 with one complete game. She sports a 4.83 ERA in 33.1 IP.

Patridge enters the weekend as the Ladies' leading hitter and one of the top offensive players in the conference. She ranks fifth in the league and tops on the team in batting average (.421), is also fifth in slugging % (.596), and seventh in OBP (.463). She is the conference leader in hits (48) and is fifth in total bases (68), tied for second in triples (3), tied for fifth in doubles (11), and tied for ninth in RBI (23).

She has hit one home run and in 114 at-bats, she has only struck out eight times while drawing six walks. She has nine stolen bases in 10 attempts, has scored 21 runs, and has 16 multi-hit games. Patridge has posted two or more hits in a game in eight of her last nine games.

Junior OF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) is in the midst of another impressive season as she is hitting .340 (.397 OBP %/.456 slugging %) with 35 hits and 29 runs scored. In 103 at-bats, Cox has only struck out 11 times and walked nine times with four doubles, four triples, and 12 RBI. She is third in the conference and tied for 19th nationally in stolen bases (26) and has only been caught twice all season. Her four triples lead the SCAC and she ranks ninth in runs scored.

Sophomore C Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) is among the top offensive players in the conference as she is hitting .343 (.410 OBP %/.524 slugging %) with 36 hits, 25 runs scored, and 24 RBI. In 105 at-bats, she has a team-leading four home runs with a team-best 24 RBI. She also has five doubles, a triple, and one stolen base. She is tied for sixth in the conference in home runs and is eighth in both RBI and slugging %. Rivero has posted eight multi-hit games this season.

Freshman 2B Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) has turned in a fantastic rookie season as she is hitting .306 (.356 OBP %/.388 slugging %) with 37 hits, 19 RBI, and 19 runs scored. In a team-high 121 at-bats she has only struck out four times compared to 10 walks. She has eight doubles, a triple, and three stolen bases in three attempts. Stokes has 10 multi-hit performances and has played exceptional defense as she has yet to make an error in 184 total chances for a perfect 1,000 fielding %.

Freshman C/3B Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) has also been impressive in her rookie season, like Stokes, as she is tied with Patridge for the team lead in doubles (11) and has 23 hits, 20 RBI, and 13 runs scored. She is also tied for second on the team in home runs (2) and has thrown out nine runners attempting to steal, tied for the most in the conference.

Junior 1B Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) is hitting .382 (.420 OBP %/.513 slugging %) with 29 hits, 10 RBI, 13 runs, two home runs, four doubles, and four BB. Sophomore DP/1B Kaitlyn Dickey (Church Point, La.) is hitting .278 (.299 OBP%/.292 slugging %) with 20 hits, 11 RBI, four runs, three walks, a double, and a stolen base. Stout leads the Ladies in walks (17) and is tied for fourth in the league. She has 26 hits, 23 runs scored, nine RBI, five stolen bases in five attempts, two double, and also has a perfect 1,000 fielding %. Sophomore SS Brooke Sandefur (Denham Springs, La.) has 17 hits, 13 runs scored, nine RBI, three doubles, five stolen bases in five attempts, leads the league in HBP (11), and is third in the league in sacrifice bunts.

Sophomore 3B Alyssa Akers (Maurice, La.) has 13 hits and 12 RBI with five runs, three walks, one home run, and a pair of doubles. Junior SS Mackenzie Clark (Upland, Calif.) returned to action last weekend following an injury and is hitting .333 this season in six games and 12 at-bats. She has four hits, scored three runs, an RBI, three BB, and two stolen bases. Freshman OF Sophie Vidrine (Eunice, La.) is hitting .310 this season with 13 hits, seven runs, three RBI, a double, three BB, and three stolen bases in three attempts.
