The Ladies (4-10) look to snap a six-game losing streak as they were swept in a pair of non-conference doubleheaders earlier in the week by Illinois Wesleyan University and Eastern Connecticut State University in Marshall, Texas as part of the Jan Gentry Classic at Taylor Field on the campus of East Texas Baptist University.
The Celts (12-5) enter Saturday's play winners of five games in a row. St. Thomas leads the all-time series 6-1 and is 3-0 all-time in Shreveport. The Ladies went 1-3 against the Celts last season as they lost two of three games in Houston during the regular season and fell 8-7 in the SCAC Tournament which ended their season.
Centenary is batting .295 as a team with a .368 on-base percentage and is slugging .389. The Ladies average 5.2 runs per game and have hit three home runs. Centenary's team ERA is 4.10 and the Maroon and White have three complete games and one save. Junior OF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) leads the Ladies in at-bats (50), hits (17), stolen bases (10), and is tied for the team lead in runs scored (14). She also has five RBI, two doubles, and two triples.
Freshman 2B Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) and senior OF/SS Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) each have 14 hits (second-most on team) and Patridge is second on the team in RBI with 11.
Sophomore DP/C Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) is hitting a healthy .357 (.408 on-base percentage/.452 slugging) with 15 hits, 11 RBI, 12 runs scored, a double, and a homer. Freshman C/UT Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) hit her first-career home run on Wednesday versus ECSU and has a team-high 12 RBI and 8 hits with four doubles and a pair of runs scored.
Sophomore P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) is 2-3 with a 3.83 ERA and all three of the Ladies' complete games. Freshman Abigail Hodgson (Georgetown, Texas) leads the team in ERA (3.43) and freshman Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) is 2-0 with a 3.50 ERA.
The Ladies were picked to finish sixth in the conference this season in the preseason poll while the Celts were picked third. Centenary went 7-14 in SCAC games last season to finish sixth. The series concludes with a single game on Sunday at Noon.
