Ladies Set To Face Dallas In Weekend Series
The Centenary softball team returns to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend against the University of Dallas Crusaders beginning with a single game on Friday at 5 p.m. at the UD Softball facility.

The Ladies (8-19, 3-6 SCAC) and Crusaders (5-18, 0-9 SCAC) conclude the series on Saturday with a doubleheader set for 1 and 3 p.m. Centenary split a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Howard Payne, falling 6-1 in game one and rebounding with a 7-6 win in game two at Lady Jacket Park in Brownwood, Texas. Centenary is 2-4 on the road this season.
Dallas, 5-13 at home this season, has lost eight games in a row and was swept at home in conference by Schreiner last weekend at home. The Ladies recorded a series sweep over the Crusaders at home last season and also swept them in Irving two seasons ago. Centenary has won eight of the last nine meetings between the two teams and is 30-12 all-time against Dallas.
The Ladies finished with 15 hits in the win over Howard Payne, marking the eighth time this season that they have recorded 10+ hits in a game and are the second-most in a game this season behind only the 21 against Westminster (Mo.) on Feb. 18.
Sophomore 3B/C Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) highlighted Tuesday's doubleheader for the Ladies as she hit for the cycle in the 7-6 win in game two, going 5-5 with four RBI. She tripled in the second, had an RBI single in the third, hit a solo home run in the fifth, had a two-RBI double in the sixth, and singled in the seventh. She is the second player to do so this season after senior LF/SS Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) accomplished the feat on Feb. 18 against Westminster (Mo.).
Rivero has been one of the Ladies' top hitters all season as she boasts a .354 batting average (third on team) with 28 hits in 79 at-bats, 19 RBI, 19 runs scored, a .411 on-base percentage and .570 slugging %. She has a team-high four home runs with three doubles and a triple. Rivero has seven multi-hit games this season and is the team leader in RBI, ranks second on the team in runs, and tied for third in hits.
Patridge is second on the team in batting average (.362) with a .411 OBP and is slugging .550. She is second on the team in hits (29) and RBI (16) and leads the Ladies in both doubles (8) and triples (2). She has hit one home run, scored 10 runs, stolen four bases, and walked five times compared to just six strikeouts in 80 at-bats. Patridge has eight multi-hit games this season.
Junior OF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) enters the weekend as one of the top offensive players in the conference. Cox is hitting a team-best .365 (.411 OBP/.506 slugging) and leads the team in both hits (31) and runs scored (24). She is the team leader in triples (4) and has four doubles, 12 RBI, and seven walks. She leads the team, is fourth in the conference, and tied for 23rd in the country in stolen bases (17) and has only been caught once. Cox has nine multi-hit games this season which includes four 3-hit performances.
Freshman 2B Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) has been of the top rookies in the conference this season as she is hitting .315 (.347 OBP/.393 slugging) with 28 hits, 14 runs scored, 13 RBI, five doubles, and a triple. She ranks third on the team in hits, fourth in runs, and fourth in RBI. She has five walks and only struck out twice in 89 at-bats. She has also stolen three bases and has an impressive .993 fielding % with just one error in 138 total chances. Stokes has eight multi-hit games.
Senior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) has a team-high 15 walked in 71 at-bats with 18 runs scored, 17 hits, and five RBI. She has stolen three bases, has one double, and a perfect 1,000 fielding %. Freshman Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) has 15 hits, 15 RBI, seven runs scored, two homers, and two stolen bases. She is second on the team with seven doubles and has recorded a pair of multi-hit games. Junior Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) is hitting .333 (.393 OBP/.392 slugging) with 17 hits, four runs scored, three doubles, four walks, and only four K's in 51 at-bats.
Sophomore P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) has thrown a team-best six complete games and is 4-8 with a 4.16 ERA. She has started a team-leading 14 games and made a team-high 16 appearances. In a team-best 75.2 innings pitched she has struck out 33 batters. Freshman Abigail Hodgson (Georgetown, Texas) leads the team in ERA (3.53) and has made 11 appearances and two starts with the Ladies' lone save.
Freshman P Alexis Roach (Pineville, La.) is 2-3 with a 5.14 ERA and three complete games. Freshman Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) is 2-2 with a 5.25 ERA in 11 appearances (2 starts).
