Kerrville, Texas – The red-hot Centenary softball team looks to extend its season-high seven-game winning streak as the Ladies are set to face the Schreiner University Mountaineers in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. at Mountaineer Softball Field.

The series concludes on Sunday with a single game at Noon between the Ladies (14-19, 9-6 SCAC) and Mountaineers (14-18, 7-8 SCAC). Centenary, 5-4 on the road this season, enters the weekend tied for third in the conference standings with Southwestern University while Schreiner is in fifth place, two games behind the Ladies and Pirates. Schreiner is 10-5 at home this season but enters the weekend having lost three in a row as the Mountaineers were swept at Southwestern last weekend.

The 2023 SCAC Softball Championship is set for May 5-7 in San Antonio with Trinity serving as the host. The top six teams in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the event.

The Ladies swept a doubleheader over the Austin College 'Roos last Sunday at home to complete a three-game series sweep as they took game one 18-2 in five innings and won game two, 3-1 after winning the series opener by a score of 7-2. The 18 runs scored in game one of Sunday's DH marks the most runs in the Ladies have ever scored in a conference game in the division III era (2012-present).

The Ladies are riding their longest winning streak since stringing together eight wins in a row from March 16-24, 2019. Centenary has won its most conference games in the regular season since winning 12 in that 2019 season when the Maroon and White went 12-10.

The Ladies and Mountaineers enter the weekend as two of the top offensive clubs in the conference. Centenary is fourth in the SCAC in team batting average (.310) while Schreiner is just ahead of the Maroon and White in third place (.315). The Mountaineers and Ladies are third (.434) and fourth (.417) in slugging percentage and third (.395) and fifth (.373) in on-base %. Both teams rank in the top five in runs scored, hits, RBI, home runs, total bases, and doubles.

The Ladies also rank second in the conference in triples with nine and are the league leader in hit by pitches with 28 and the Mountaineers are tied for fourth with 17. Centenary averages 4.9 runs per game and has reached double figures four times this season and posted 10+ hits in a game 13 times and done so in six of its last seven games.

Centenary ranks third in the league in team ERA (3.80) while Schreiner is fourth at 5.39. The Ladies lead the conference in innings pitched (225.0) and are third in opposing batting average (.291). Sophomore P Anna Scarbrock (Alexandria, La.) is currently the league leader in IP (100.2) and is fifth in strikeouts (45) and tied for fifth in wins (7). She is 7-8 this season with a 3.55 ERA and a team-high nine complete games in 19 appearances and 17 starts.

Senior LF/SS Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) is the Ladies' top hitter with a sizzling .423 average which ranks sixth in the conference. She is also eighth (.469) in OBP and fifth in slugging (.615). Patridge is second in the SCAC in hits (44), third in doubles (11), tied for second in triples (3), fifth in total bases (64), and tied for seventh in RBI (21). She has stolen nine bases in 10 attempts and in 104 at-bats she has only struck out six times while drawing six walks. She has 14 multi-hit games this season and has done so in six-straight games.

Sophomore C/3B Viviana Rivero (Redondo Beach, Calif.) is hitting .340 (.411 OBP/.526 slugging) with 33 hits, 21 RBI, a team-high four home runs, four doubles, a triple, and 23 runs scored. Rivero is tied for fifth in the conference in homers, tied for sixth in total bases, and is eight in slugging %. She has posted eight multi-hit games this season.

Junior OF Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) is batting .351 (.400 OBP/.479 slugging) with 33 hits, 27 runs, 12 RBI, four doubles, and four triples. She leads the league in triples and ranks ninth in runs scored. She is also tied for 20th in the country in division III in stolen bases (23) and has only been caught once this season. Cox has nine multi-hit games this season and four games with two or more stolen bases.

Freshman 2B Catherine Stokes (Natchitoches, La.) has established herself as one of the conference's top rookies as she is hitting .310 (.352 OBP/.389 slugging) with 35 hits, 17 RBI, 16 runs, seven doubles, one triple, eight walks, and three stolen bases. She also boasts a perfect 1,000 fielding % as she has yet to commit an error in 174 total chances. Stokes is 10th in the conference in hits and tied for fifth in sacrifice flies. She has tallied 10 multi-hit games this season.

Junior 1B Isabelle Dominguez (Newark, Calif.) is hitting .379 (.423 OBP/.530 slugging) with25 hits, 11 runs scored, four doubles, nine RBI, two homers, and four walks. Freshman C/3B Jaeden Thrasher (Forney, Texas) has 19 hits, 19 RBI, two homers, 10 doubles, 12 runs scored, and four stolen bases. She ranks in a tie for fourth in the league in doubles and is first in the conference in sacrifice bunts. Thrasher has also been outstanding behind the plate as she leads the SCAC by throwing out nine runners attempting to steal.

Senior CF Mallory Stout (Trinity, Texas) leads the Ladies in walks (16) and is tied for fourth in the league. She has 23 hits, 22 runs scored, four stolen bases, and a double and also has a perfect 1,000 fielding %. Sophomore SS Brooke Sandefur (Denham Springs, La.) has 15 hits, 12 runs scored, eight RBI, three doubles, five stolen bases, leads the league in HBP, and is third in the league in sacrifice bunts. Sophomore DP Kaitlyn Dickey (Church Point, La.) is hitting .290 with 20 hits, 11 RBI, four runs, and a double. She has five multi-hit performances this season.

Sophomore 3B Alyssa Akers (Maurice, La.) belted a three-run homer last weekend, her first of the season, and has 12 hits, 11 RBI, four runs scored, and two doubles while freshman P/UT Abigail Hodgson (Georgetown, Texas) has 10 hits, five RBI, two walks, two runs scored, and two doubles and in 11 appearances and two starts in the circle has a 3.53 ERA and a save in 33.2 IP.

Freshman Emma Crow (Krotz Springs, La.) has made 13 appearances in the circle, second on the team behind Scarbrock, and is 3-2 with a 4.11 ERA and one complete game. She has made three starts and has thrown 32.1 innings. Freshman P Alexis Roach (Pineville, La.) is 4-3 with four CG's (second on team) in 12 appearances and 11 starts (both second on team). Roach has a 4.20 ERA and 24 K's in 58.1 IP.
