Ladies Set To Host SCAC Crossover

Shreveport – The Centenary volleyball team will host a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Crossover this weekend as five league members will join the Ladies over two days on two courts in the Gold Dome.

Tournament action begins on Friday at 11 a.m. with six matches and concludes on Saturday with four more matches. Centenary will honor its senior class following the final match of the tournament on Saturday.

The event will feature the Ladies along with Austin College (14-6, 3-5 SCAC), Colorado College (11-10, 7-4 SCAC), the University of Dallas (11-11, 1-7 SCAC), Schreiner University (16-8, 6-4 SCAC), and Trinity University (21-3, 10-0 SCAC).

The Ladies' first match of the weekend is set for Friday at 1:15 p.m. against Schreiner and then the Maroon and White face Colorado College on Friday evening at 6 p.m. Centenary's two matches on Saturday are against Trinity at 10 a.m. and Dallas at 1 p.m.

The Ladies (7-14, 0-8 SCAC) took a break from conference play on Tuesday evening as they fell 3-2 to the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats at home. Centenary won the first set, 25-19, LC took set two 25-23, and won the third set 25-16, but the Ladies extended the match with a 25-18 win in set four. The Wildcats then clinched the match with a 16-14 win in set five.

The Ladies, now 5-3 at home this season, finished with a season-high 106 digs, 52 kills, 48 assists, nine service aces, and season-best seven blocks while the Wildcats totaled 112 digs, 58 kills, 53 assists, six blocks, and three aces. The 106 digs are the 10th-most in a match in the division III (2011-present) era.

Centenary has 690 assists, 124 service aces, 34 solo blocks, 1,199 digs, and 758 kills. The Ladies are averaging 10.24 kills per set, 9.32 assists/set, 1.22 blocks/set, 1.68 aces/set, and 16.20 digs/set. The Ladies have a .135 hitting % with 391 errors in 2,721 total attacks.

The Ladies' senior class - Senior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas), senior OH Madison Schonberg (Harbor City, Calif.), and senior OH/RS April Jones (Longview, Texas) will be honored after the final match of the weekend which features the Ladies versus Dallas set for a 1 p.m. start.

Lemelle has 145 digs (fifth on team), 74 kills, eight blocks, five assists, and two aces, Schonberg has recorded 36 kills, 10 digs, two blocks, and one assist. Jones has appeared in three matches and played in four sets in her first season with the Ladies.

Sophomore DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) has had an impressive all-around season as she has totaled 157 digs (fourth on team), 20 aces (fourth on team), 26 assists (fourth on team), and four kills. Freshman RS/S Victoria Larson (Royse City, Texas) has 77 kills, 45 assists, 25 digs, and 13 total blocks, and freshman OH/DS Mackenzie Haley (Orange, Texas) has 74 kills, 54 digs, six blocks, four assists and two aces.

Junior MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) is having another fine season for the Maroon and White as she has tallied 159 kills (second on team), 46 digs, 31 blocks (second on team), 11 assists, and six aces. Freshman MB/OH Reign McArthur (Midlothian, Texas) has 17 kills, 14 total blocks, three assists and three aces and freshman S/DS Hannah Dimmel (Navasota, Texas) has added 15 digs, seven aces, and five assists. Freshman S Hailey Hill (La Grange, Texas) has returned from an injury and played in the Ladies' last two matches, totaling 22 assists, eight digs, and three blocks.

Smith also has 196 digs (tied for second-most on team), 32 kills, and eight blocks and Henderson has also recorded 93 kills, 14 digs, three assists, and two aces. Liedy has 35 assists, 26 aces (second on team), and a kill and St. Martin has tallied 196 digs (tied for second-most on team), 24 total blocks (third on team), 23 aces (third on team), and seven assists.
