Ladies Swept In Pair Of Matches Friday

Shreveport – The Centenary volleyball team was swept in a pair of matches on Friday on day one of a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Crossover, 3-0 to both the Schreiner University Mountaineers and the Colorado College Tigers at the Gold Dome.

The Ladies (7-16, 0-10 SCAC) are joined this weekend by the Tigers, Austin College 'Roos, Mountaineers, the University of Dallas and Trinity University.

Match one recap: Schreiner 3 Centenary 0:

The Ladies finished with 60 digs, 31 kills, 26 assists, two service aces, and two solo blocks while the Mountaineers (15-8, 6-4 SCAC) recorded 83 digs, 50 kills, 46 assists, 3 aces, and one solo block.

Schreiner won set one, 25-17, took set two by the same score of 25-17, and clinched the sweep in set three, 25-13.

Ladies' Statistical Leaders:

Aces: Junior RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) and senior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) – 1 each

Assists: Sophomore S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) – 12

Blocks (Solo): Senior OH Madison Schonberg (Harbor City, Calif.) and junior MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) – 1 each

Digs: Junior OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) – 16

Kills: Freshman MB Bailee Henderson (Monroe, La.) – 7

St. Martin also had seven digs and six kills, Lemelle added six digs, four kills, and one assist. Smith had 12 digs and one kill, Schonberg had two kills, Canady added six digs, six kills, and one assist. Liedy added one assist and Henderson also had one dig.

Freshman RS/S Victoria Larson (Royse City, Texas) finished with five kills, sophomore DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) had nine digs and one assist, and freshman S Hailey Hill (La Grange, Texas) tallied 10 assists and three digs.

Match two recap: Colorado College 3 Centenary 0:

The Ladies recorded 33 digs, 12 kills, 12 assists, one ace, and one solo block while the Tigers (12-10, 8-3 SCAC) recorded 53 digs, 41 kills, 36 assists, 13 aces, and one solo block.

The Tigers won set one, 25-8, took set two by the score of 25-14, and clinched the sweep in set three, 25-11.

Smith and Hill each added four digs, Henderson had two kills, Haley had six digs, and St. Martin also had two digs. Senior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) added three digs and a kill and sophomore DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) finished with three digs.

Tournament action concludes on Saturday with four more matches. Centenary will honor its senior class following the final match of the tournament on Saturday. Centenary's two matches on Saturday are against Trinity at 10 a.m. and Dallas at 1 p.m.
