Pineville, La. – The Centenary volleyball team fell 3-1 to the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats in a non-conference contest on Tuesday evening at H.O. West Fieldhouse.

The Ladies (4-5) had beaten the Wildcats (6-2) in the last two meetings between the teams and lost for just the second time in nine meetings in the series. Centenary is 1-3 over the last four days after dropping two of three matches in the 2023 Hendrix Invitational hosted by Hendrix College in Conway, Ark. this past weekend.

The Wildcats edged the Ladies 29-27 in a tightly-contested set one and then Centenary responded with a 25-17 victory in set two to even the match. Louisiana Christian took set three by a 25-22 count and then clinched the win in set four with the same score. Centenary totaled 62 digs, 45 kills, 42 assists, nine aces and one solo block while Louisiana Christian finished with 77 digs, 59 kills, 51 assists, and five aces.

Junior OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) led the way in digs with 16, sophomore S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) tallied a team-leading 30 assists, and junior RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) and senior OH Madison Schonberg (Harbor City, Calif.) each had 12 kills.

Liedy added three aces and two assists, Smith had seven digs and a kill, St. Martin added 14 digs, a team-best five aces, and a solo block. While Schonberg also had two digs. Junior MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) finished with six kills, an assist, and a dig. Freshman MB Bailee Henderson (Monroe, La.) had five kills, sophomore DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) tallied eight digs, a pair of assists, and one ace.

Freshman OH/DS Mackenzie Haley (Orange, Texas) had an impressive match with 11 digs, nine kills, and one assist. Senior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) chipped in one dig and freshman RS/S Victoria Larson (Royse City, Texas) had six assists and two digs.

The Ladies open conference play this weekend as they will face host University of Dallas along with Austin College on Saturday in Irving, Texas.
