Irving, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team dropped a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches on Saturday, 3-1 the host University of Dallas Crusaders and 3-1 to the Austin College 'Roos as the Ladies opened league play in a SCAC Inter-Pod at the Maher Center.

The Ladies (4-7, 0-2 SCAC) have lost three matches in a row a row overall after falling 3-1 at Louisiana Christian University in non-conference play on Tuesday.

Match one recap: Dallas 3 Centenary 1:

Dallas took set one, 25-16, and won set two by a count of 25-14. The Ladies edged the Crusaders 25-22 in set three but Dallas closed out the win in set four, 25-23.

The Ladies finished with 56 digs, 38 kills, 34 assists, five service aces, and one block. Centenary hit .226 in set three, its best attack percentage of the match with just two errors in 31 total attacks. The Crusaders (10-3, 1-0 SCAC) totaled 63 digs, 60 kills, 59 assists, seven aces, and did not record a solo block. They hit .300 or better twice - .324 in set one and a match-best .417 in set two.

Sophomore S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) tallied a team-best 29 assists and added eight digs, two kills, and an ace. Junior OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) was the leader in digs with 20 and added one assist. Junior MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) led the way in kills with 10 and added two digs, an ace, and an assist.

Sophomore DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) finished with nine digs and an assist, and junior RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) had an impressive match with eight digs, eight kills, a team-high three aces, and an assist. Freshman RS/S Victoria Larson (Royse City, Texas) tallied six kills, three digs, and one assist.

Senior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) had four digs and one kill, freshman MB Bailee Henderson (Monroe, La.) totaled six kills and a dig, freshman OH/DS Mackenzie Haley (Orange, Texas) added four kills, and senior OH Madison Schonberg (Harbor City, Calif.) had one dig and one kill.

Match two recap: Austin College 3 Centenary 1:

The 'Roos (10-1, 1-0 SCAC) took set one, 25-18, and the Ladies won set two 25-21. Austin College then won a close set three (27-25) and closed out the win in set four, 25-14.

The Ladies finished with a season-high 93 digs, 49 kills, 47 assists, two aces, and one block. Austin College tallied 100 digs, 65 kills, 60 assists, two aces, and one block. Smith had a match-high 40 assists as she reached the mark for the second time this season after tallying a career-high 43 against Lyon earlier this month. She added a season-high 19 digs and had one kill.

St. Martin polished off a stellar day with 21 digs and 14 kills, both season highs. Canady had 11 kills, six digs, and one block and Larson finished with 11 kills, three digs, and one assist. Haley had six kills and five digs and Nagot finished with 12 digs, one ace, and one assist.

Liedy had 20 digs as she reached the mark for the fourth time this season and in both matches of the day. She added two assists and one ace. Henderson had a dig and a kill, Lemelle finished with four kills, and Schonberg recorded one kill. Freshman S/DS Hannah Dimmel (Navasota, Texas) had a solid match with six digs and three assists.

The Ladies will be back home on Wednesday evening to face the Tougaloo College Bulldogs in a non-conference contest set for 6 p.m. at the Gold Dome.
