Ladies Record Road Sweep Of Wiley On Wednesday

Marshall, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team completed a 3-0 sweep of the Wiley College Wildcats on Wednesday evening in a non-conference contest inside Alumni Gymnasium.

The Ladies (6-10) took the first set 25-15, second set 25-20, and clinched the match with a 15-18 score in set three over the Wildcats (2-13). Centenary won both matches between the teams this season following a 3-0 win at home back on Sept. 6.

Centenary finished with 38 assists, three services aces, two solo blocks, 58 digs, and 43 kills. Wiley totaled 66 digs, 37 assists, 37 kills, and two aces. The Ladies finished with a .246 attack percentage, committing just 12 errors in 126 total attacks. Centenary was a red-hot .471 in the first set with no errors and 16 kills in 34 total attacks for its second-best attack % in a match this season. Wiley tallied 66 digs, 37 assists, 37 kills, and two aces.

Aces: Junior OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas), sophomore S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas), and junior RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) each with 1.

Assists: Smith – 32

Blocks: Junior MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) and freshman MB Bailee Henderson (Monroe, La.) each with 1.

Digs: Liedy with 16

Kills: Canady with 11

Liedy added two assists and an ace, Smith had eight digs, four kills, and one ace, and Canady had four digs, and an assist. St. Martin had eight digs, eight kills, and one ace. Senior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) had 11 digs, five kills, and one assist. Sophomore DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) had seven digs and an assist, Henderson added eight kills and four digs, freshman RS/S Victoria Larson (Royse City, Texas) tallied five kills and an assist, and freshman OH/DS Mackenzie Haley (Orange, Texas) tallied two kills.

The Ladies remain on the road this weekend as they return to conference play in Seguin, Texas for a SCAC Crossover hosted by Texas Lutheran University. Centenary will face the University of St. Thomas and Southwestern University on Friday and the host Bulldogs on Saturday.
