Shreveport – The Centenary volleyball team recorded a sweep over the Wiley College Wildcats in a non-conference contest on Wednesday evening at the Gold Dome.
The Ladies (3-2) took set one 25-16, set two 25-15, and then closed out the 3-0 sweep with a 25-17 win in the third set. The Wildcats fell to 0-5 with the loss as Centenary handed Wiley a third-straight loss in the series after the Maroon and White won both matches against the Wildcats last season. The teams will meet each other again next month – Oct. 4 on the Wildcats' home court.
Centenary recorded 43 digs, 35 kills, 34 assists, and nine aces while Wiley tallied 44 digs, 20 kills, 19 assists, and four aces. The Ladies' best statistical set was the third and final one in which they totaled 14 kills and just five errors in 48 total attacks.
Sophomore S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) posted a match-leading 31 assists and five aces. She added eight digs as she entered the match ranked second in the conference in digs and tied for sixth in aces. Junior OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) finished with a team-high 12 digs and added a kill. Junior RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) had a match-best 11 kills and added six digs and a pair of aces.
Junior MB Elizabeth Canady (League City, Texas) posted nine kills and two digs, senior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) had six kills, three digs, and an ace, and sophomore DS/L Daly Nagot (Benton, La.) added seven digs and an ace. Freshman RS/S Victoria Larson (Royse City, Texas) had two assists, two kills, and one dig, freshman MB Bailee Henderson (Monroe, La.) had five kills, and an assist, and freshman OH/DS Mackenzie Haley (Orange, Texas) posted two digs. Senior OH Madison Schonberg (Harbor City, Calif.) had one dig and one kill and junior DS Allana Scott-Daniels (Spring, Texas) added one dig.
Two Wiley players – Shyla Starks and T'aja Hardy, posted double-digit digs, LeAndria Jackson had a team-high 10 assists, and Zykeya Hunt led the way in kills with six.
The Ladies return to action next weekend in the Warrior Invitational hosted by Hendrix College in Conway, Ark.
