Meg Crowley Named Head Gymnastics Coach

Shreveport – Meg Crowley has been named head coach of the Centenary Ladies gymnastics program, Director of Athletics David Orr announced on Wednesday.

Crowley, a Spring, Texas native, is a former Centenary gymnast (2009-13) and begins her first head coaching job. She helped lead the Ladies to a third-place finish at the 2013 USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals, also finishing third on floor and served as team co-captain her senior year.

"I'm excited to welcome back to Centenary, Meg Crowley, as Centenary's Head Gymnastic Coach," said Orr.

"Meg was an outstanding student-athlete here. She epitomized the work ethic of a student-athlete at Centenary and took this into her professional career as a coach and Physical Therapist. Coach Crowley's ability to relate to the Centenary student-athlete and her service leadership style will be welcomed and will benefit Centenary's current and future gymnasts. I am excited for Centenary Gymnastics and Centenary College to have Coach Meg Crowley leading our gymnastics program!"

Crowley was coached by longtime head coach Jackie Fain, who retired at the end of last season after 11 successful seasons at the helm.

"I am excited to be back with the Centenary Ladies on the other side as a coach," said Crowley.

"Special thanks to Jackie Fain and David Orr for selecting me for this prestigious position. Jackie has built a strong program on the field of play and as students, so it is definitely big shoes to fill!"

Crowley trained at Bannon's Gymnastics under Luis Brasesco and Olympic coach Aimee Boorman prior to being recruited to Centenary as a student-athlete. She completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas Woman's University in 2016 and was previously a level 10 rated gymnastics judge.

She has spent the past six years in Chicago working as a physical therapist, where she worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic treating a wide range of patients with a special interest in women's health and female athletes.

"There is a ton of growth at Centenary right now, especially in the athletics department, so I am super excited to be a part of it all," said Crowley.

"I am looking forward to getting into the gym with the Ladies and building a strong foundation for this season and beyond. This team has loads of talent, so I am excited to see what this season has in store for us!"

The Ladies began last season in the national spotlight, as they faced nationally-ranked, and annual powerhouse LSU in a dual meet in January which was televised live on the SEC Network in Baton Rouge.  The season was capped by five Ladies competing at the USAG Collegiate Nationals hosted by Cornell University in April.

The complete 2023 Centenary gymnastics season schedule will be announced soon.
