Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: March 2 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: March 2 Edition

Hey Centenary Gymnastics fans, Rylie here with this week's Gym Talk.

This week was such a fun one for the Ladies. We started off the week with Mardi Gras break, so we had plenty of time to rest, catch up on schoolwork, and of course, do some gymnastics. We worked hard in the gym preparing and perfecting our routines on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. On Sunday, we were able to get out of practice just in time for the Krewe of Highland Parade. It was so much fun seeing everyone from the school and the community come out for this event. The ladies got so many beads that we don't know what to do with them! On Tuesday, we had our annual PowerPoint and dip night. This is so much fun for us because we get to have some good laughs with everyone's creative PowerPoints and eat some yummy homemade dips.  We had the day off on Wednesday, but we went right back to work on Thursday doing our final preparations before leaving for our meet in Springfield, MA.

We started our journey on Friday night driving to Dallas, then woke up dark and early the next day to leave for the airport by 4AM. We flew out by 6AM and traveled all day until we finally made it to Boston, MA. It was a long travel day, but it was so much getting to be in some new places. I even got to see one of my dream places, Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. When we made it to Springfield, we all hit the sheets to wake up the next day for meet day.

Meet day was so much fun! We woke up and got ready for the meet, like always, then we headed on to Springfield College. When we got there, the first thing we had to do was see one of our alumni, Sierra Ponder. We love to see how well she is doing up there and we are so proud of everything she's doing. We then warmed up and competed with so much determination. We ended the night with a couple career highs and event winners. Sophomore Carissa Martinez won the vault with a new career high of 9.725. Sophomore Emma Lavelle got her career high on bars with a 9.625. Amy Foret won the all-around this weekend with a score of 37.75. Way to go Ladies! We are so proud of you! After the meet, we ate some yummy pizza and went on our way back to Boston to prepare to leave to go back to Shreveport on Monday.

Overall, I would say the Ladies had a jam-packed week of fun. We couldn't be prouder of our team, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the season holds. Stay tuned for next week when my fellow junior Roxanne Myers gets to tell you all about the Battle for the Rose.

See ya on the flippity flop!
