Springfield, Mass. - The Centenary gymnastics team finished second to the host Springfield College Pride on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference dual meet at Blake Arena.
The Ladies earned a 186.350 while the Pride won with a 188.725 team score. Centenary's top individual event score was a 47.450 on vault followed by a 47.400 on floor, a 46.375 on bars, and a 45.125 on beam. Springfield's top score was a 48.575 on floor, then a 47.350 on vault, a 46.500 on bars, and a 46.300 on beam.
Sophomore Carissa Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) won the vault competition with a new career-high 9.725. Sophomore Emma Lavelle (Mandeville, La.) won on bars with a career-high 9.625. Freshman Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) won the All-Around with a 37.750, her second-best AA score this season.
Foret tied for fourth on vault with a 9.45, finished fourth on beam (9.325), finished sixth on floor (9.70), and tied for fifth on bars (9.275). Senior Leilani Johnson (Wichita, Kan.) finished second on floor with a 9.75 and third on vault (9.475). Freshman Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas) finished third on bars with a 9.60, Martinez scored a 9.675 on floor to finish seventh, senior Lacey Wedge (Belle Chasse, La.) posted a 9.425 on vault to finish sixth and senior Rose Deshler (Hastings, Minn.) finished fifth on beam with a 9.30
Next up for the Ladies is the Rose City Classic versus Texas Woman's University on Saturday, March 4 at 7 p.m. in Tyler, Texas.
