Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: Feb. 8 Edition

Centenary Ladies Gym Talk: Feb. 8 Edition

Hello everyone. It is senior, Lacey Wedge here with another fabulous Gym Talk for you all. I hope you are ready to see what the Ladies have been up to this week.

The Ladies were training day in and day out to prepare themselves for a long double meet weekend. The Ladies had a long first travel day. They traveled early Thursday morning to beat the cold and icy weather to Dallas. Then from Dallas they traveled to St. Louis airport and finished their travel driving two hours to Illinois. The Ladies got a delicious dinner to close out the night before going to the hotel to get some sleep for our first big meet day Friday morning.

Friday morning arrived, and the Ladies were up and ready to go! The Ladies had their first meet against ISU and Bowling Green. The Ladies had a pumped up warm up and brought it over to the meet. The Ladies started their meet on bars and finished up on vault. We had some great debuts that were made this weekend. Senior Taylor Ann Wilson made her floor debut getting her season and career high. Also, Senior Kennedy Stephens made her debut on vault, achieving her season and career high. These two girls did a wonderful job! On floor we had Kennedy Stephens with a 9.6 making it her season and career high, Leilani Johnson with a 9.65 season high, and Emma Lavelle with a 9.575 season high. The floor crew did amazing scoring our season high team score on floor for this year! The high scores for each event on Friday are as follows: on vault, Leilani Johnson scored a 9.5, on bars, Taylor Wilson scored a 9.675, on beam, Kennedy Stephens scored a 9.55, and on floor, Amy Foret, scored a 9.725.

The Ladies woke up Saturday morning to travel back to St. Louis for our meet on Sunday. Once we made it to St. Louis, we spent the afternoon of our day off at the City Museum. The City Museum is basically like a big playground inside and outside. Inside there is a big 10-story slide that the ladies went down. YES A 10-STORY SLIDE. It was so much fun.  Also, there was a little circus show going on that showed some cool tricks and flips. Both inside and outside had a bunch of things you could climb and slide down. The Ladies had a lot of fun at the museum!

The Ladies finished their double meet weekend on Sunday against Lindenwood and Greenville. The Ladies had a great warm up and transferred their energy to the meet. This meet the Ladies started on beam and finished on bars. Izzie Plaza warmed up a beautiful giant full in warmups for the first time. On bars we had Sophie Schmitz scoring a 9.65 matching her season and career high. On floor we had Amy Foret scoring a 9.7 and Taylor Wilson broke her season and career on floor. Amy Foret matched her season and career high on vault. The high scores for each event on Sunday are as follows: on vault, Leilani Johnson scored a 9.575, on bars, Taylor Wilson scored a 9.7, on beam, Rose Deshler scored a 9.725 getting her season and career high, and on floor, Leilani Johnson, scored a 9.725. Leilani Johnson not only scored the highest score on floor, but she also broke her season high on floor.

The Ladies had a long weekend, but we had so much fun being together. We not only had a fun weekend, but we did a lot of exciting activities. These Ladies are moving up so you better tune in. We are grinding and hungry for more. Once the Ladies made it back home, we rested up for our next week of training. Can you guess where we are going? Who's dome? OUR DOME. You heard it; the Ladies will be home against TWU this coming Friday. Do not miss it because we are coming to show out.

Thanks for tuning in! This is senior Lacey Wedge signing off. Check back next week for an update from fellow senior Rose Deshler.
