Several Season Highs Highlight Ladies' 191.325 On Friday Night

Denton, Texas – The Centenary gymnastics team finished third on Friday night in a quad meet hosted by Texas Woman's University, finishing with an impressive 191.325 team score at Kitty Magee Arena.

The host Pioneers won the meet with a 194.150 score, Air Force was second at 193.725, and Wisconsin-Eau Claire was fourth at 185.600. The Ladies posted their best score since a 191.575 last season on Senior Night versus TWU – March 12, 2022. Friday also marked the third time in the last three seasons that the Maroon and White have earned a 191.000 or better.

The Ladies' best event score was a 48.60 on beam followed by a 47.925 on floor, a 47.675 on vault, and a 47.125 on bars. Centenary earned its best score in a season-opening meet (188.30) in 15 years last weekend to finish second in a non-conference tri-meet against host Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) and Greenville University in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Ladies improved their scores from last week in all four events on Friday.

Freshman Amy Foret (Bedford, Texas) finished second in the All-Around competition with a season-best 38.025. Air Force's Ayla McKean won the AA with a 38.175. Foret's top score was a season-best 9.75 on beam to finish in a tie for sixth place. She scored a 9.625 on floor, a 9.475 on vault, and a 9.175 on bars. Her scores on bars and vault are season bests.

Senior Taylor Ann Wilson (Memphis, Tenn.) tied for first place on bars with a season-best 9.75 and was matched by Brooke Ferrari of TWU. Sophomore Carissa Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) finished in a tie for fourth on beam with a career-high 9.80. Senior Lacey Wedge (Belle Chasse, La.) finished fifth on vault with a season and career-tying 9.70 after recording that same score last week and placing second. Freshman Sophie Schmitz (Trophy Club, Texas) tied for fifth on bars with a season-best 9.65. Senior Kennedy Stephens (Bella Vista, Ark.) tied for ninth place on beam with a season-high 9.725.

Foret, Martinez, Stephens, Wedge, and senior Kendall Huff (Riviera, Texas) finished 12th through 16th place on floor as each scored a 9.55 or higher. Sophomore Emma Lavelle (Mandeville, La.) finished 18th with a season-high 9.50. Lavelle and junior Rylie Molina (Moss Bluff, La.) finished 13th and 14th on beam with a 9.675 and a 9.65 respectively. Lavelle's 9.675 was a new career high and Molina's 9.65 tied her career best. Senior Leilani Johnson (Wichita, Kan.) earned a career-best 9.50 on beam to finish 19th. Junior Isabel Plaza (San Antonio, Texas) finished with a season-high 9.45 on vault to finish 18th. Johnson finished 12th on vault with a season-high 9.575, Stephens' 9.575 on floor was a new career high as was Wedge's 9.575. Martinez also recorded a new career high on floor with her 9.60.

Centenary will host Hamline University next Saturday at 5 p.m. for its home opener in the Gold Dome.
