Softball Set to Face Dallas on Road this Weekend

Irving, Texas- The Centenary softball team will face the University of Dallas Crusaders in a three-game weekend series on the road in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action beginning Saturday with a doubleheader set for Noon and 2 p.m. at the UD Softball facility.

The Ladies (9-11, 2-3 SCAC) were swept at home by St. Thomas last weekend in conference play while Dallas (2-5, 2-4 SCAC) took two of three at home from Austin College. Centenary took two of three from the Crusaders at home last season.

Centenary enters the weekend ranked second in the conference in team pitching with an impressive 2.96 ERA. Freshman Hailee Leger (Belle Chasse, La.) leads the league with a 1.85 ERA and ranks second in strikeouts with 53. Leger has made 14 appearances and 10 starts, both team highs, and is 4-6 with a team-best three saves and three complete games. In 68 innings pitched Leger has allowed just 18 earned runs and 67 hits and only walked three batters all season.

Junior Ashley Hunter (Benton, La.) is 3-2 with a 3.47 ERA (eighth in SCAC) and has one save and one complete game. Fellow junior Kirstyn Gomez (Deer Park, Texas) is 1-2 with a 5.25 ERA and the two have combined for 33 strikeouts.

The Ladies also rank third in the league in team fielding with an overall fielding percentage of .949 and also rank third in the conference in stolen bases as the Maroon and White have swiped 30 bases so far this season.

Freshman right fielder Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) has been the leader of the Ladies' offense so far this season as the rookie leads the team in batting average (.321), hits (18), and on-base percentage (.415). She is also third on the team in slugging percentage (.357) and is tied for second on the team in stolen bases with eight. Cox ranks in the top 20 in the conference in hitting and has four RBI with a triple. Her 18 hits are tied for seventh in the conference and she is also tied for fifth in walks with seven.

Sophomore Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) leads the team in stolen bases with 12 and ranks second in the conference. Fellow sophomore Britlyn Garrett (Stonewall. La.) has swiped eight bags herself and is tied with Cox for third in the league. Patridge has 16 hits to ranks second on the team and 10th in the league. Senior Erin Lewis (Leesville, La.) is tied for fourth in the league in home runs with two and junior infielder Jaymee Wilkinson (Brazoria, Texas) is tied for third in the conference and leads the team in doubles with five.
