
Three Ladies Named To SCAC Softball All-Tournament Team
Three Ladies were named to the 2021 SCAC Softball Championship All-Tournament Team, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office announced on Friday.
Lawrenceville, Ga. – Three Ladies were named to the 2021 SCAC Softball Championship All-Tournament Team, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office announced on Friday.
Freshman P Hailee Leger (Belle Chasse, La.), senior C Erin Lewis (Leesville, La.), and junior 2B Jaymee Wilkinson (Brazoria, Texas) represent the Ladies on the team after helping lead Centenary to an appearance in the championship round of the event for the first time in program history.
Leger had a great weekend in Kerrville, Texas in the championship as she won a pair of games and picked up a save, her fifth of the season, which tied her for most in the country in division III. The five saves also led the SCAC and set a Centenary division III single-season program record. She allowed just five earned runs in 16.2 innings pitched in a pair of starts with eight strikeouts.
Leger had a stellar freshman campaign as she pitched a team-high 10 complete games and went 9-10 with an impressive 2.13 ERA. She led the team in appearances (27) and starts (20) and pitched a team-high 125 innings. She allowed just 38 earned runs with 94 strikeouts and walked only 20 batters all season. Leger ranked in the top five in the regular season in the league in ERA, strikeouts, and saves. Leger's 2.13 ERA sets a new D3 era record for lowest ERA in a single season. Leger was named SCAC Pitcher of the Week once and was also recognized as the LSWA Pitcher of the Week once during the season by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Lewis, one of just two seniors on the team this season, slugged a team-high four home runs this season and had a team-leading 19 RBI. The clutch catcher collected 26 hits, 13 runs, and also hit five doubles. She hit .250 for the season and had an OBP of .308 and slugged .413. Lewis had a big finish to her career as she went 7-14 (.500) in the SCAC Championship with seven RBI, three runs scored, two doubles, and a home run. Leger and Lewis were each named to the All-SCAC Honorable Mention team last week.
Junior 2B Jaymee Wilkinson (Brazoria, Texas) had a fantastic SCAC Tournament as she went 9-15 at the plate (.600) with three RBI, four runs scored, a double, and a pair of stolen bases. She went 4-4 with an RBI, a run scored, and a double in the Ladies' 8-3 win over Trinity on day two of the championship, setting a career single-game record.
