
Softball Set to Face Texas Lutheran In Final Home Series of Season
The Centenary softball team will play its final three home games of the season as the Ladies welcome the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to town for a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend series beginning on Friday with a doubleheader set for 5 and 7 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The Ladies (15-14, 8-6 SCAC) enter the weekend winners of six of their last nine games, taking two of the last three series that they have played and are currently in third place in the SCAC standings. Texas Lutheran (23-4, 14-0 SCAC) is atop the conference standings with two weekends of league play remaining.
Centenary lost two of three games last weekend at Trinity, falling 3-0 on Sunday in the rubber game of the series. The Ladies and Tigers split a doubleheader on Saturday as Trinity took game one, 9-1 in six innings, and Centenary responding with a 2-1 win in game two.
Centenary enters the series boasting one of the top pitching staffs in the conference, as the Ladies currently rank second in the SCAC in team ERA (2.61) and lead the league in innings pitched, strikeouts, and saves. The Ladies also rank third in opposing batting average. The Maroon and White have also been strong at the plate and on the bases all season as they are fifth in the conference in team batting average, third in runs scored, and fourth in hits, RBI, and total bases. The Ladies are also tied for third in home runs, fourth in triples, fifth in doubles, and second in stolen bases.
Ladies' freshman right fielder Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) has been the anchor on offense all season as she leads the way with a team-best batting average of .345 and a .418 on-base percentage and ranks third on the team with a .402 slugging percentage. She leads the team in hits (27) and walks (9), is tied for the team lead in triples (2), and is fourth in RBI with six. Cox ranks in the top 10 in the SCAC in hits, walks, triples, and on-base percentage.
Centenary freshman Hailee Leger (Belle Chasse, La.) has had a fantastic rookie season in the circle as she leads the team in wins (7) and ERA (1.68) and strikeouts (78). She has made a team-high 21 appearances, started a team-best 16 games, and pitched a team-high 100.0 inning pitched. She has pitched seven complete games and saved four games. She has allowed just 24 earned runs all season while only walking 13 batters and allowing just a single home run. Leger ranks in the top five in eight different individual statistical categories.
Junior P Ashley Hunter (Benton, La.) is having a solid season herself as she is 5-3 with a 3.16 ERA and has pitched two complete games and earned one save. Freshman Cambry Bates (Readhimer, La.) has been the Ladies' top dual-threat player this season and she is tied for the team lead in home runs (3) with teammate Erin Lewis (Leesville, La.) and has also made nine appearances in the circle and is 1-1 with an impressive 2.03 ERA. Bates is second on the team with a .333 batting average and is tied for second on the Ladies with 24 hits. She also has four doubles, seven runs scored, and nine RBI.
Sophomore Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) is having a fine offensive season as she is hitting .300 with an on-base percentage of .356 and is slugging .412. She is tied with Bates for second on the team with 24 hits and tied with Cox for the team lead in runs scored with 14. She is the team leader in RBI (12) and has five extra-base hits and has stolen a team-leading 16 bases.
Lewis, in addition to her team-high three homers, has 17 hits, 11 RBI, nine runs scored, and three doubles. Sophomore third baseman Britlyn Garrett (Stonewall. La.) has 18 hits, 12 runs scored, six RBI, and is tied with Lewis for the team lead in extra-base hits (6). Garrett has also swiped 10 bases.
