Softball To Face Trinity on Road in Weekend Series

San Antonio, Texas - The Centenary softball team will face the Trinity Tigers in a three-game weekend series in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader at Noon and 2 p.m. followed by a single game on Sunday at Noon at the Trinity Softball Field.

The Ladies enter this weekend's action playing their best ball of the season as they have won five of their last six games and are currently third in the SCAC standings. Centenary, which won two of three at home last weekend against Southwestern, swept Dallas two weeks ago on the road as the Ladies are an impressive 8-3 in road games this season. Trinity has lost two in a row entering the series and is in fifth place in the conference standings.

Centenary won 2-0 in Sunday's series finale versus Southwestern as freshman Hailee Leger (Belle Chasse, La.) tossed her second-straight complete-game shutout to improve to 7-6. She allowed just four hits in her seven innings of work with two walks and three strikeouts. Leger threw 77 total pitches, 53 for strikes. She blanked the Pirates on Friday in game one of a doubleheader as she allowed just four hits, all singles, in her seven innings with a walk and three strikeouts and threw 71 pitches, 51 for strikes. Leger, who lowered her ERA to a superb 1.39, now has 68 strikeouts this season in 90.2 innings pitched while only walking seven total batters. Leger has now thrown six complete games, three shutouts, and has four saves in her 19 appearances (14 starts). Her ERA is the second-lowest in the league and she ranks second in strikeouts. Leger was named the LSWA Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday by the  Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Ladies' freshman right fielder Mackenzie Cox (Alexandria, La.) went 2-3 with a double, and a run scored to lead the offense in Sunday's shutout win. Cox leads the Ladies in hitting with a .351 batting average and ranks in the top five in the conference in hits with 27. She also has six RBI, 12 runs scored, nine walks, three extra-base hits, and ranks fourth in the conference in stolen bases with 11.

Sophomore Kaylea Patridge (Las Vegas, Nev.) is second in the league in stolen bases with 16 and has only been caught six times. Patridge leads the team in RBI with 11 and is second on the team in hits with 23. She is hitting .319 (third on team) with four extra-base hits, a team-best 13 runs scored, and has an on-base percentage of .370 and is slugging .417.

Freshman P/INF Cambry Bates (Readhimer, La.) is second on the team with a .328 average and is third on the team in hits with 21. She is tied for the team lead in home runs with three and has nine RBI, seven runs scored, and a pair of doubles. Her on-base percentage is .377 and is slugging a team-high. 500. Senior C Erin Lewis (Leesville, La.) is tied with Bates for the team lead in homers (3) and has 10 RBI (second on team) with 16 hits, three doubles, and is slugging .412. Sophomore third baseman Britlyn Garrett (Stonewall. La.) is slugging .397 and has 17 hits, 12 runs scored, six RBI, and is tied with Lewis for the team lead in extra-base hits (6) as she has three doubles, two triples, and a homer.

Junior P Ashley Hunter (Benton, La.) is 4-3 with a 3.53 ERA and has one save and one complete game. Fellow junior Kirstyn Gomez (Deer Park, Texas) is 2-2 with a 4.89 ERA and the versatile Bates is 1-1 in the circle and has an impressive 2.03 ERA in 10.1 innings of work.

The Ladies rank second in the SCAC in team ERA (2.61), lead the league in saves (5) and their 112 total strikeouts are the most in the conference. The Ladies have stolen 56 bases as a team which ranks second in the conference, they rank fifth in hitting and are second in fielding (.957).
