Hailee Leger Named LSWA Pitcher of the Week
Two freshmen -- Southeastern Louisiana outfielder Audrey Greely and Centenary right-handed pitcher Hailee Leger -- are the first recipients of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association weekly softball player awards of 2021, the LSWA announced Wednesday.

Baton Rouge, La. - Two freshmen -- Southeastern Louisiana outfielder Audrey Greely and Centenary right-handed pitcher Hailee Leger -- are the first recipients of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association weekly softball player awards of 2021, the LSWA announced Wednesday.
Greely was selected LSWA Hitter of the Week, and Leger was chosen Pitcher of the Week.
The awards are based on nominations and voting by the state's college softball publicists, who are not permitted to vote for their own players. Athletes from four- and two-year colleges are eligible for the awards.
About Centenary's Hailee Leger:
• Freshman pitcher/utility from Belle Chasse, La., and a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans.
• Pitched two complete-game shutouts at home -- both seven innings -- in Centenary's first-ever series victory against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Southwestern (Texas).
• Week: 14 innings, eight hits, zero runs, three walks, six strikeouts, two games, two complete games . . . Threw 77 pitches in the series opener, a 4-0 victory, and 71 pitches in the finale, a 2-0 victory.
• Season: Leads the SCAC with a 1.39 ERA . . . 19 games, 14 starts, 7-6 record, four saves, six complete games, 68 strikeouts, 78 hits and seven walks in 90 2/3 innings.
• Centenary is 14-12 overall, 7-4 SCAC (third place out of eight teams).
• Next for the Ladies: three-game SCAC series at Trinity (Texas) -- noon doubleheader Saturday, then a noon game Sunday.
About Southeastern Louisiana's Audrey Greely:
• Freshman outfielder from Geismar, La., and a graduate of Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge, La.
• Week: 5-for-6 with a double, two home runs, two walks, one hit-by-pitch and two sacrifice bunts in a three-game Southland Conference sweep at Nicholls.
• Homered in each of the first two games of the series -- her first collegiate home runs.
• Season: Batting .415 (34-for-82) with nine extra-base hits, two home runs, 16 RBIs, on-base .510, slugging .585, 11-of-12 stolen bases, started all 34 games.
• Southeastern is 21-13 overall, 10-2 Southland (tied for second place out of 12 teams).
• Next for the Lady Lions: three-game Southland home series vs. McNeese -- 5 p.m. Friday, then a noon Saturday doubleheader.
