Ladies Rally But Fall Short At Ozarks On Saturday

Clarksville, Ark. - The Centenary women's basketball team fell by a score of 79-58 to the University of the Ozarks in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at Mabee Gymnasium.

The Ladies (1-5) started the game off slow and got outscored 23-6 in the first quarter but found their footing later on to help narrow the deficit. Centenary came out stronger in the second half and put up 35 points after only scoring 23 in the first half. The Eagles improved to 4-2 on the season.  

Junior guard Destini Powell (Minden, La.) led the Ladies in scoring as she came off the bench and put up a career-tying 26 points on 10-22 shooting from the field and went 6-8 from the free throw line. She also grabbed eight rebounds and had an assist and a steal during her 26 minutes of play. Junior F Jazzmyn Jones (Normangee, Texas) had a solid performance for the Ladies with 12 points, six rebounds, and one steal and block during her 37 minutes of play. Jones shot 4-11 from the floor and went perfect from the free throw line, shooting 4-4. 

The Eagles were led by guards Kerigan Bradshaw, who had 12 points in 28 minutes, and Janna Rhinehart, who played for 21 minutes and had 18 points. The Eagles shot 45.6% from the floor while also connecting on 34.6% of their 3 point shots and shot 72.7% from the free throw line.

Centenary finished the game shooting 37.3% from the field, 12.5% from beyond the arc, and 76.5% from the free throw line. Each team grabbed 39 rebounds and Centenary finished with an edge in fast break points, 14-9. 

Bradshaw led the Eagles in assists with five, followed by guard Brittany Temple who had four. Ozarks had eight different players record an assist  and finished with an impressive 18 total. Sophomore G Addy Tremie (Sulphur, La.) also had a solid game for the Ladies, scoring 11 points with one made three pointer and a 45% field goal percentage. She also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and added three assists and two steals.

The Ladies will complete the road weekend with another non-conference contest versus Hendrix on Sunday in a game set for 1 p.m. in Conway, Ark.
