Sherman, Texas – The Centenary women's basketball team will face the Austin College 'Roos on Saturday afternoon in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest set for 4 p.m. at Hughey Gym.

The Ladies (3-11, 1-5 SCAC) will aim to snap their five-game losing streak and improve to 3-5 on the road this season. The 'Roos (3-9, 2-2 SCAC) defeated St. Thomas on Tuesday in Houston in their most recent game. Centenary and Austin College are meeting for the first time since the 2019-20 season as the two games scheduled between the two last season were cancelled due to COVID-19.

Centenary enters the game ranked fourth in the SCAC in scoring defense, allowing 65.8 PPG and has held nine teams to 60 points or less on the season and eight to 65 or fewer. Austin College is next to last in the conference allowing 69.6 PPG and only averages 57.1 PPG. The Ladies are averaging 55.1 PPG, just behind the 'Roos. The Ladies lead the conference in three-point field-goal percentage defense (.245) and rank second in the league in field goal percentage defense (.354).

Junior G Destini Powell (Minden, La.) enters Saturday's play as the Ladies' leading scorer on the season, averaging 12.5 PPG to rank fifth in the conference. Powell has reached double figures eight times this season and has done so in seven of the last nine games. She scored 14 in Centenary's most recent game, a 76-63 loss to Southwestern on Jan. 12 at home. She was 5-12 from the floor in 32 minutes of action and 4-8 from beyond the arc with seven rebounds and a season-high seven assists. Her four treys are also a season-best and she has made three or more in a game three times this season. Her 7.1 rebounds per game also ranks 10th in the league and she is currently 14th in free throw percentage (.650).

Sophomore guard Addy Tremie (Sulphur, La.) is second on the team averaging 11.4 PPG and ranks ninth in the league. She scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds, and had four assists, a blocked shot, and a steal as she played all 40 minutes against Southwestern. Tremie shot 4-14 overall, made one trey, and played 40 minutes for the sixth time this season. Tremie has scored in double figures six times this season and scored 20 or more three times including a career-high 25 versus Trinity on Dec. 19. Tremie averages 7.3 rebounds per game to rank seventh in the conference.

Junior F Jazzmyn Jones (Normangee, Texas) averages 10.8 PPG and 5.1 rebounds per game and has reached double figures eight times this season. She ranks 11th in the conference in scoring and 20th in rebounding. She also ranks fourth in the league in field-goal percentage (.477). Junior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.) scored a career-high 13 points in 24 minutes versus Southwestern on 6-9 shooting and grabbed five rebounds. Bagwell's previous high in points was 10 earlier this season against Louisiana Christian University. She added a steal and was 1-2 at the free throw line. Bagwell is averaging 4.6 PPG and 3.5 rebounds/game.

Freshman G Dymon Drumgo (Alexandria, La.) scored a season-high 11 points off the bench in 18 minutes in the Southwestern contest. She made 4-9 shots overall and grabbed two rebounds with a steal. She was 3-4 at the free throw line. Her previous high in points was 10 on Nov. 16 at Millsaps. Freshman G Mary Leday (Opelousas, La.) is averaging 5.2 PPG and 2.6 rebounds per game and has recorded three double-figure scoring games this season.

Freshman G Alana Jones (Shreveport) played 26 minutes and scored four points against the Pirates with four rebounds. She had a balanced and impressive overall stat line with three assists, three steals, and a blocked shot. Jones is averaging 4.2 PPG and 3.8 rebounds per game for the season. She also ranks 12th in the conference in free throw percentage (.667). Senior G Jennae Mayberry (Clovis, Calif.) averages 3.7 PPG and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Tremie is also 10th in the conference in three-point FG percentage and Powell ranks 14th and Tremie and Powell rank seventh and eighth respectively in the conference in three-point field goals made. Jones is currently seventh in the league in steals and 15th in both blocked shots and offensive rebounds. Powell and Tremie are tied for fourth in defensive rebounds and Tremie is the conference leader in minutes played this season.

The Ladies return home for three-straight home games to finish off the month including a rematch with Austin College on Jan. 25. Centenary first plays Texas Lutheran on Jan. 24 and finishes the homestand versus Schreiner on Jan. 30.
