Shreveport - The Centenary women's soccer team battled the Alcorn State University Braves for 90 minutes before falling 3-1 on Wednesday evening in a non-conference match at Mayo Field.

The Ladies (0-7-1) went toe to toe with the division 1 Braves and were trailing just 2-1 until Alcorn added a goal in the final minute to extend its lead and secure the victory. The Braves improved to 2-4-1 with the win and avenged a 2-1 loss to the Ladies at home last season. Mikayla Duncan's goal in the 47th minute off an assist from Jaidyn Matheu made it 2-0 Braves. The Ladies, however, did not back down as senior F Daisy Acosta (Deer Park, Texas) scored at the 62 -minute mark off an assist from senior F Avery Gilbert (League City, Texas) following a corner kick. Lauren Hill scored at the 89:12 mark off an assist from Samara Nunn for the final 3-1 margin.

Sophomore GK Madison Ersoff (Shreveport, La.) played the first half and allowed the one goal and made one save. Junior GK Karlie Delhommer (St. Amant, La.) replaced her and played the second half, allowing two goals and recording a save. The Braves also played two goalies as Mikayla Shaughnessy started and made one save and Vivian Lugo played the final 45 minutes, allowing Acosta's goal and making one save.
