Irving, Texas - The Centenary women's soccer team finished its season on Sunday afternoon as the Ladies earned a 1-1 tie versus the University of Dallas Crusaders in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at the UD Soccer Facility.
The Ladies finish their 2022 season at 2-16-2 overall and 2-11-1 in SCAC play while Dallas ends its campaign at 5-10-3 and 4-7-3 SCAC. Centenary had previously beaten Dallas at home earlier this month, 1-0 on Oct.9 at Mayo Field.
Senior F Sydney Bascomb (Mesquite, Texas) finished her stellar career in style as she scored her 10th career goal and third this season, finding the net in the ninth minute for an unassisted score. She also scored a goal on Oct. 14 at Texas Lutheran as two of her three goals this season came in conference play.
Bascomb finishes her career ninth all-time in the division III era (2011-present) in goals (10), tied for first in assists (9), eighth in points (29), and third in game-winning goals (5).
Claire Reed tied the match for Dallas with a goal in the 77th minute off an assist from Michelle Narvaez. Sophomore GK Madison Ersoff (Shreveport, La.) started in goal for the Ladies and played all 90 minutes and made three saves. Crusaders' keeper Briana Salinas also went the distance and made three saves.
Dallas finished with a 14-10 edge in shots and took eight corner kicks to the Ladies' six. Only five fouls were called and one card issued.
Senior MF/D Gabby McDonald (Pasadena, Texas) finished the season as the Ladies' leader in goals (4), points (10), and was tied for the team lead in assists (2) with senior F Avery Gilbert (League City, Texas). McDonald, like Bascomb, will finish her career as one of the best players in the D3 era as she amassed 13 career goals, seven assists, 33 points, and four game-winning goals. McDonald is tied for fourth in the D3 era in goals, tied for fourth in assists, tied for fourth in points, and tied for fourth in game-winning goals (4).
