Shreveport - The Centenary women's basketball team fell 69-52 to Millsaps College on Wednesday evening in a non-conference contest at the Gold Dome.

The Ladies (1-6) lost to the Majors (6-1) for the second time in four days after Millsaps defeated the Ladies by a score of 77-59 on Sunday in the final game of the Millsaps Thanksgiving Classic in Jackson, Miss.

Centenary shot 32 % (16-50) from the floor for the game, 7-20 (35 %) from beyond the arc, and 13-18 (72.2 %) from the free throw line while Millsaps finished at 44.6 % (29-65) from the field but struggled from both 3-point range (3-17 for 17.6 % and at the FT line (8-18 for 44.4 %).

Millsaps won the rebounding battle, 45-34, and scored 48 points in the paint compared to Centenary's 16. The Majors also received 32 points from their bench while the Ladies' contributed seven. Millsaps scored 21 points off of turnovers, Centenary scored eight, the Majors finished with a 14-6 edge in second-chance points, and the Ladies finished ahead in fast break points, 9-4.

The Ladies totaled seven assists, seven steals, and two blocked shots and turned the ball over 18 times while the Majors tallied 16 assists, 10 steals, one blocked shot, and turned it over 13 times.

Sophomore G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) led the Ladies with 16 points and was joined in double figures by junior G Alana Jones (Shreveport, La.) who scored 11. Freshman G Mallory Dougharty (Evadale, Texas) scored eight, sophomore G Lauren Castillo (Fort Worth, Texas) added six off the bench, and sophomore F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.) and sophomore G TaNyjah Plumber (Kinder, La.) each scored five. Freshman G Kira Latson (Pearland, Texas) scored one point in 16 minutes off the bench.

Millsaps had three players reach double figures, led by 19 from Elyse Warren in her 18 minutes off of the bench. Whitney Novak and Haley Franklin each scored 12. Taylor Frank added seven, Garin Freeman and Emily Adams each scored six, Nya Miller had four, and Tia Anderson added three.

The Majors led 20-13 after the first quarter and then the Ladies edged them, 15-14 in the second period as the visitors led 34-28 at halftime. Millsaps then edged the Ladies 11-10 in a low-scoring third quarter before the Majors took control with a 24-14 fourth quarter to seal the win.

Barrow, Jones, and Stokes each grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and Warren finished with a game-high 11 to record a double-double for the Majors. Barrow played all 40 minutes and was 4-11 from the floor, 3-6 from beyond the arc, and 5-6 from the FT line with a game-high four steals and added three steals. Jones played 26 minutes and was 4-8 from the floor, 1-1 from beyond the arc, and 2-4 at the FT line with two blocked shots and two steals.

The Ladies will open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on the road this weekend, with games at Austin College (Friday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m.) and Dallas (Saturday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.).
