San Antonio, Texas- The Centenary women's basketball team fell 88-60 on Saturday evening to the Trinity University Tigers in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference at the Ron & Genie Calgaard Gymnasium inside the Bell Center.

The Ladies (1-15, 0-8 SCAC) shook off a 50-point loss at Schreiner on Friday night and were within just 10 points at halftime, but the Tigers (12-5, 7-1 SCAC) were used a big third quarter to pull away late and seal the home win.

Trinity held a 23-8 lead after the first quarter, but Centenary responded with a 23-18 advantage in the second to make it a 41-31 score at the half. The Tigers finished with a 31-16 advantage in the third quarter and edged the Ladies, 16-13 in the fourth.

Centenary shot 36.5 % (19-52) from the floor on the night, 35.3 % (6-17) from beyond the arc, and 16-22 from the free throw line for 72.7 %. Trinity was 30-65 from the field for 46.2 %, 9-20 from 3-point range for 45.0 %, and 19-24 from the FT line for 79.2 %. The Ladies have now shot 70 % or better from the FT line nine times this season and done so in four of their last five games.

Trinity outrebounded Centenary 43-30 and finished with a 40-24 edge in points in the paint. The Tigers had 18 second-chance points to the Ladies' six and had five fast break points while the Ladies scored four. Centenary turned the ball over 17 times and Trinity gave it away 10 times. The Tigers scored 16 points off of turnovers while the Ladies had 10, and the Trinity bench contributed 29 points and Centenary received 14 points from its reserves. The Tigers had 22 assists, seven steals, and a blocked shot and the Ladies finished with 14 assists, two steals, and three blocks.

Sophomore G TaNyjah Plumber (Kinder, La.) was the Ladies' leading scorer with 11 points, leading the team for the second day in a row after a game-high 14 points on Friday at Schreiner. Plumber reached double digits for the ninth time this season and sixth-straight time. She was 3-12 from the floor, 1-5 from beyond the arc, and 4-6 from the FT line in 39 minutes and just missed a double-double with a team-high nine rebounds and added three assists and a steal.

Sophomore F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.) joined Plumber in double figures with 10 points as she was 5-10 shooting in 17 minutes with five rebounds, three blocked shots, and an assist. Stokes scored 10 points for the second night in a row and now has reached double figures five times this season. Senior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.) played well for the second day in a row in her return from an injury as she scored nine points in 19 minutes off the bench. She was 3-8 overall and 2-4 from the FT line with one trey and three rebounds. Sophomore F Layla Powell (Fort Worth, Texas) also scored nine as she was 1-3 from the floor, 1-2 from beyond the arc, and 6-8 from the FT line with two assists in 30 minutes.

Sophomore G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) and sophomore G Madison Davis (Shreveport, La.) each scored eight points and freshman G Mallory Dougharty (Evadale, Texas) added five. Freshman G Kira Latson (Pearland, Texas) played four minutes but did not score.  Barrow finished 3-9 overall and 2-2 from the FT line in 39 minutes with seven assists, six rebounds and a steal, Davis was 2-8 overall, 2-6 from beyond the arc, and 2-2 from the FT line with an assist and a rebound in 38 minutes. Dougharty finished 2-2 from the floor with one trey and two boards in 14 minutes.

Three Trinity players reached double figures, led by a game-high 27 points from Josie Napoli. Natalie Greenwood and Maggie Robbins each had 15, and seven other Tigers scored a combined 31 points.

Centenary and Trinity will face each other a second time next month, on Sunday, Feb. 18 in Shreveport as the game will serve as the Ladies' final home game of the regular season and their annual Senior Day contest.
