Colorado Springs, Colo. - The Centenary women's basketball team fell by a score of 79-54 to the Colorado College Tigers on Friday night in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference inside Reid Arena.

The Ladies (2-18, 1-11 SCAC) entered the game on a high note after snapping a 13-game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 61-59 overtime win at home against St. Thomas, but could not keep pace with the Tigers (15-5, 9-2 SCAC) on Friday.

The Tigers took a 19-13 lead after the first quarter and then edged the Ladies 15-12 in the second to lead 34-25 at halftime. Colorado College then took control of the game with a 24-10 advantage in the third quarter and edged the Ladies 21-19 in the final period.

Centenary shot just 25.4 % (18-71) from the floor for the game, 23.8 % (5-21) from beyond the arc, but was strong from the free throw line as the Maroon and White finished 13-18 for 72.2 %. Colorado College shot the ball well, finishing an even 50 % (34-68) from the floor but made only 4-12 from beyond the arc for 33.3 %, and struggled at the free throw line, finishing 7-14 for 50 %.

The Tigers made a living inside, outscoring the Ladies in points in the paint 50-16, finished with a 17-0 advantage in fast break points, 31-2 in bench points, and 17-14 in second-chance points while the Ladies edged the Tigers 9-8 in points off turnovers. Centenary turned the ball over just nine times, a season low, and Colorado College gave it away 15 times.

Sophomore G TaNyjah Plumber (Kinder, La.) led all scorers with a career-high 29 points as she played all 40 minutes and was 8-26 from the floor, 3-11 from beyond the arc, and 10-14 from the FT line with for rebounds and a steal. Plumber reached double figures for the 12th time this season and topped 20 points for the second time as her previous career high was 23 points on Nov. 25 at Hendrix.

Sophomore G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) scored 12 points as she also played all 40 minutes and went 5-16 from the floor and 2-4 from beyond the arc with five assists and four rebounds. Barrow has scored in double figures 14 times this season. Sophomore F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.) scored eight points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in 25 minutes. She was 4-11 from the floor with a team-best four steals, an assist, and a blocked shot.

Senior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.) and freshman G Kira Latson (Pearland, Texas) each scored two points and sophomore F Layla Powell (Fort Worth, Texas) scored one. Sophomore G Madison Davis (Shreveport, La.) was held scoreless but she grabbed six rebounds and had an assist and a steal in 22 minutes. Bagwell played 31 minutes and was 1-5 from the floor with two rebounds, an assist, a blocked shot, and a steal. Latson played 20 minutes and grabbed three rebounds with one steal. Powell played 22 minutes and had for rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Zoe Tomlinson led the Tigers with 24 points and she was joined in double figures by Juliana Garcia (13) and Rose Koehler (10). Willa McLaughlin scored nine, Healy Bledsoe scored eight, Emma Nawara had six, and three players – Kayla Mackel, Isa Nelson, and Sofia Rocca combined to score nine. Tomlinson grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds to post an impressive double-double as she played 23 minutes and was 11-23 from the floor with four blocked shots and two assists.

The Ladies return to action next weekend with games at Texas Lutheran University (Friday, Feb. 9) and Southwestern University (Feb. 10).
