Ladies Set For New Year's Eve Contest Versus Colorado College

Shreveport - The Centenary women's basketball team returns to action for one final game before the calendar turns to 2024 as the Ladies will face the Colorado College Tigers a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on New Year's Eve set for 2 p.m. inside the Gold Dome.

The Ladies (1-10, 0-3 SCAC) return to the court for the first time since Dec. 19 when they fell 88-67 to the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats in a non-conference contest in Pineville. Colorado College enters Sunday's action at 8-4 overall and 2-1 in league play. The Tigers, 2-3 on the road this season, have won two games in a row and cruised past St. Thomas in Houston on Friday night by a score of 67-43. Centenary trails the all-time series with Colorado College 17-7 and aims for its first win since a 72-52 victory at home on Feb. 8, 2019.

Centenary averages 54.6 PPG, shoots 30.2 % from the floor, 25.8 % from beyond the arc, and 69 % from the free throw line while averaging 34.8 rebounds per game.

Ladies' Individual Season Statistical Leaders:

Scoring: Sophomore G Amiyah Barrow (Baton Rouge, La.) – 13.2 PPG

Rebounding: Sophomore F Kyra Stokes (Shreveport, La.) – 5.5 RPG

Assists: Barrow – 2.6/game

Blocks: Senior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.) – 0.8/game

Steals: Barrow – 1.6/game

Barrow, the fourth-leading scorer in the conference, has reached double figures 10 times this season and done so in eight-straight times. She scored a career-high 24 points on Dec. 12 at St. Thomas as she played all 40 minutes and was 8-15 from the floor, 2-5 from beyond the arc, and 6-7 at the FT line with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Stokes, the Ladies' leading rebounder this season, averages 7.4 PPG and has reached double figures four times this season and three-straight times. Sophomore F Layla Powell (Fort Worth, Texas) also averages 7.4 PPG and has reached double figures three times.

Sophomore G TaNyjah Plumber (Kinder, La.) is the Ladies' second-leading scorer this season, averaging 9.3 PPG and has reached double figures four times and done so three times in her last five games. She scored a career-high 23 points in an 80-69 win over Hendrix on Nov. 25. Senior F Amelia Bagwell (West Monroe, La.) averages 6.0 PPG, 3.7 rebounds/game, and shoots 83.3 % from the free throw line. Bagwell, who has battled injuries this season and last played on Nov. 26 at Millsaps, scored a season-high 14 points at Southern Arkansas on Nov. 18.

Freshman G Mallory Dougharty (Evadale, Texas) averages 4.4 PPG and scored a season-high 11 points against Louisiana Christian and reached double figures for the first time this season. Sophomore G Madison Davis (Shreveport, La.) averages 2.6 PPG, freshman G Kira Latson (Pearland, Texas) has seen action in eight games and scored a season-best two points against Louisiana Christian, and freshman F Yadneli Molina (Vinton, La.) also scored a season-best two points and has seen action in five games. Sophomore G Lauren Castillo (Fort Worth, Texas) scored a season-best six points off the bench against Millsaps on Nov. 29 and has played in nine games as she averages 1.9 PPG.

Junior F/C Zoë Tomlinson leads the Tigers in scoring (15.7 PPG) and is the SCAC's second-leading scorer. Audrey Bayston (9.5 PPG) and Kayla Mackel (9.3 PPG) are 14th and 15th in the league respectively in scoring. Tomlinson (12.7 rebounds per game) is the conference leader in rebounds and Bayston is seventh, grabbing 5.9 boards per game.

The Ladies, 0-2 at home this season, will be playing just their third game at the Gold Dome this season as they have played nine times away from home in the seasons' first two months.
