Women?s tennis drops conference opener against Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team fell 9-0 to the Cobra's of Coker College in Sunday's conference opener.

Kelsey Kushner (Tampa, Fla.) won a game against Jennifer Mezei in the No. 1 position. The freshman fell 6-0 in the first set, and battled back to win a game in the second set, falling 6-1. Carmen Boone (Hudson, N.C.) battled Suzanna Mickey into an 8-1 match at the No. 4 spot. Audrey Cardwell (Denver, N.C.) earned a game win against Jenna Gainey at the No. 5 slot, falling to Gainey 8-1.

In the doubles games, Audrey Cardwell and Katie Hatter (Cedar Mountain, N.C.) took two games against Suzanna Mickey and Sarah Elliott at the No. 2 position. The Cobras took the match 8-2.

Brevard will have a week to prepare Lincoln Memorial on their home court. The Tornados will host the Railsplitters on Feb. 11, beginning at 1 p.m.
