Women?s tennis drops final match in Hilton Head

BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard College Women's Tennis team (1-12) fell in its final match of the Hilton Head, S.C. Spring Break tournament 9-0 to Asbury University.

Carmen Boone (Hudson, N.C.) and Katie Hatter (Cedar Mountain, N.C.) got things started taking two games in the doubles competition against Asbury's Sarah Beth Alford and Laura Ross. The due lost the set 8-2. Kelsey Kushner (Tampa, Fla.) and Sam Miranda (Valley City, Ohio) battled at the No. 1 spot, falling 8-1 to Caitlin Conyers and Ale Diaz.

Kushner won three games in the first set against Conyers spot in singles competition. Kushner fell in the second set 6-0 at the No. 1 spot. Hatter took one game in set two against Alford. Hatter fell 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 position. Carmen Boone kicked off her first set of singles play with a game win, falling 6-1, 6-0.

The Tornados will return home on March 18, for a nonconference match against Emmanuel at 1 p.m. Brevard will return to conference play on March 19, hosting Lenoir-Rhyne at 1 p.m.
