Women?s tennis drops 9-0 decision to L-R

BREVARD, N.C. - Despite playing at evening strength for the first time in several weeks, the Brevard College Women's Tennis team (1-14, 0-6 SAC) was unable to surpass the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (8-8, 2-4 SAC) falling 9-0 in South Atlantic Conference action.

The Bears would take a 3-0 lead following doubles play as the Tornados No. 1 team of Kelsey Kushner (Tampa, Fla.) and Sam Miranda (Valley City, Ohio) fell 8-0, while Katie Hatter (Cedar Mountain, N.C.) and Audrey Cardwell (Denver, N.C.) at No. 2 and Carmen Boone (Hudson, N.C.) and Gabi Harness (East Flat Rock, N.C.) all went down 8-0 as well.

In singles play, the Tornados would battle, but would be unable to overcome the pressure of L-R as both Kusher and Miranda dropped No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively by scores of 6-0, 6-0, while Hatter at No. 3 would take a point in the final game falling 6-0, 6-1. Brevard would also take points at No. 4 through No. 6 singles, as Boone picked up a point in the first game, Cardwell in both the first and second games and Harness earning a point in the second game.

The Tornados will take to the road on Saturday, Mar. 25 to battle the Mars Hill Lions, before retuning to the Brevard Tennis complex the following afternoon to tangle with the Anderson University Trojans.
