Women?s Tennis drops match against Palm Beach Atlantic

HILTON HEAD, S.C.- The Brevard College Women's Tennis team (1-10) was shut-out by Palm Beach Atlantic (5-5) by a score of 9-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Hilton Head Spring Break tournament.

In doubles competition, Kelsey Kushner (Tampa, Fla.) and Sam Miranda (Valley City, Ohio) took one game from Palm Beach Atlantic's Leoni Polzin and Taylor Conti, falling 8-1 at the No. 1 spot. Carmen Boone (Hudson, N.C.) and Katie Hatter (Cedar Mountain, N.C.) battled at the No. 2 position winning one game against Maja Jovic and Dezi Bowman, losing 8-1.

Carmen Boone had a solid first set at the No. 4 spot in singles play, taking two games against Taylor Conti. Conti won 6-2, 6-0 in the match. Kushner took one game in the first set from Valerie Nagovitcina at the top spot, falling 6-1, 6-0. The Tornados were shutout at the No. 2, 3, and 5 matches against the hot Palm Beach Atlantic team.

The Women will return to the courts tomorrow for a showdown against Lawrence Tech at 3 p.m. for the fourth day of competition in the Hilton Head Island Spring Break Tennis Fest. The Tornados will wrap up the tournament on Saturday March 11, against Asbury.
